Does anyone have a favorite book that just floored them at the end. I mean in a way that you never saw coming.

Mine is a book called The List of Seven by Mark Frost.
Part mystery and supernatural. I rememeber thinking as I read it
"this is decent." then I read the last line of the book and I
gasped and muttered "Holy shit, I never saw that coming..."

That last line made the whole book come together.

So may question, again, what made you say holy shit?

Falling Angel by William Hojtzburg

Anyone who's either read it or saw the movie that is based on it [Angel Heart] will agree. Amazing book, amazing ending. Movie was really good, too.

well - i saw a lot of people dogging this book's ending (so i'll confess to my dorkiness)

But I LOVED the 'hand of god' ending of the Stand. . . i was taken totally off guard and thought it was a real biblical epic ending for a biblical epic book.

i also loved the ending of Return of the King, Tolkien, with the return to the shire and the bittersweet lesson that some wounds never heal and that sometimes you can't go home again.
