Movies I love: Cabin Fever, The Grudge, Halloween 4 and yes, Halloween 5....:p
Movies I dislike: Ichi the Killer (okay, maybe I do hate this one...lol), House of a 1000 Corpses (though I loved The Devil's Rejects), The Beyond and The Ring.

Ghosts of Mars. I love it, everyone, or most everyone, seems to hate it.
I know it's stupid, but it's a stupid I enjoy.

Cabin Fever, the Resident Evil movies, Armageddon, Jason Vs. Freddy the list goes on. I hated a lot of movies people love too. Like Road to Perdition, Apollo 13, Castaway, Forest Gump (holy crap they all star Tom Hanks who I like as an actor lol), I didn't HATE them I guess but I didn't like them. I also didn't like Million Dollar Baby or Ray. Apparently a lot of people loved Blair Witch too and I didn't like it at all. As for Naked Lunch, I didn't think a lot of people hated it, I liked it a lot (own the critereon of course). As for my friends most of them have HORRIBLE taste in movies as they didn't like Ran, The Vanishing, Roshomon, North by Northwest... the list there continues too. There aren't many movies I don't like but the few I do seem to be some of the most loved heh.

Oh, and, I mentioned this in another thread. But, Anaconda. That's a great movie, I feel. It's so watchable. Most people don't seem to "get" why the film is good. The characters are offensive stereotypes, but it knows it. It wants to be a stupid movie. Big difference between that and a movie that is stupid by accident.
Best line is when the English guy hits Jon Voight over the head with a golf club and says "Asshole in one!"

I really loved Event Horizon which loads of folk seemed to hate (how could you hate it, it ripped off every great horror film of the last 30 years)
I disliked Alien and A History of Violence which isn't a horror film obviously but was loved by all and sundry and was of course made by the maestro of maestroes in our beloved genre.

I have to own up to Armageddon as well....I think that is great mindless entertainment.
One I hate that just about everyone else I talk to loves, and I can't believe I didn't mention it before.....the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Love the original though. That may be one reason why.:p

Now, I enjoyed "House of the Dead" quite a bit. I thought it was TERRIBLE, but there is something very entertaining about it.
Here's another thing too, and I think I mentioned this once before. I tried watching "House of the Dead" imagining that it was a new-milennium, digital-age remake of "Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things" with guns. In a warped, crap-loving way, the film was sort of a hoot. Idiot raver kids on an island with lots of running zombies, lots of guns, and Jurgen Prochnow. Come on, it's great, you love it.

It's a crap movie, but you know, I don't feel too bad for him, the same way I don't feel too bad for Barry Pepper in "Battlefield Earth"--these actors are good enough to come off well despite the material they're in. Also I think Prochnow is a good businessman, knows how to price himself affordably but still make money, so he works a lot. I think it's possible he's never even SEEN "House of the Dead"...he probably gets paid, goes home, and relaxes doing something he wants to do...

I liked Cronichles of Riddick but most people I know didn't. After Pitch Black I picked up the XBox game, and then the anime, and then Chronicles... now I'm waiting for the next instalment. It's funny how Pitch Black can be great as a standalone movie or great as a part of a really well written story (the story that spans the game and all those movies is really good IMO).
