there had to be a flip side (pardon the pun) to the other thread ...

the most hideous cover i've ever heard .. so bad it made me stop wanting to hear the origional : Tory Amos - Dear God.

why?

"Personal Jesus" performed by Marilyn Manson shows how a great song can be easily destroyed.

why?

311's cover of the Cure's "Lovesong" really pissed me off. The worst thing about it is that most of the people who would listen to 311 actually think it's their song.

Pearl Jam's versions of Dead Moon's Its OK and the Dead Boys' Sonic Reducer.

Guns N' Roses doin' Sympathy For The Devil

RHCP's Under The Bridge by All Saints (? - I think it was them some terrible pop band anyways).

Rage Against The Machine's version (in fact just about every version of that - except Guitar Wolf's) of Kick Out The Jams.

Scooter cover of Kiss "I was made for loving you"

why?

Well I liked a few of the ones mentioned here but oh well. A lot of people hate Limp Bizkit's covers of Faith and Behind Blue Eyes (I kind of dig em' for different reasons), also some people don't like Fuel's acoustic cover of Daniel (which I love). Oh, what do you all think about the Three Doors Down version of Imagine?

I liked "God Save the Queen", "Holiday in the Sun", and "Here We Go Again". "Pretty Vacant" and "Anarchy in the UK" were decent. "Schools Are Prisons" is a fantastic song, but it unfortunately doesn't count since it was done by a couple of the members in a different band. And Glen Matlock wrote "Ghosts of Princes in Towers" when he was in the Rich Kids which was a fucking great song, but again, doesn't really count as a Sex Pistols song.

I think there's an answer to the question somewhere in there. Man, I just should've said "yeah."

Hey, the worst cover all time I almost forgot Brittney's cover of I Love Rock and Roll. Anyway, this site's not bad for cover tunes and opinions. http://www.rateitall.com/t-2293-cover-songs.aspx

simple plan covered Bad Religion's American Jesus. totally butchered it. AFI covered Last Caress.

My favorites are any song pennywise ever covered, and Fear Factory's cover of Cars.

"The Spaghetti Incident" by GNR should be the alma mater of this topic.

That cover's great! Probably cause I fucking hate the Eagles and Hotel California and NOFX tore it apart in style. I wanna hear them destroy some Zeppelin!

The Spaghetti Incident has a couple of amazing tracks on it, their version of the New York Dolls' Human Being and Johnny Thunders' You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory are gold. Can't go wrong with their version of the Rocket From The Tombs/Dead Boys track Ain't it Fun. But holy shit Axl's fake English accent on the UK Subs cover?! Utter shit.
