Man Charged With Assault After Shaving Girlfriend's Hair
Warren, michigan -- A 22-year-old Michigan man will stand trial on a domestic violence charge.
James Garvin is accused of shaving off his 18-year-old girlfriend's eyebrows and nearly waist-length hair.
The judge dismissed a more serious kidnapping charge against Garvin after Nicole Carter denied that Garvin held her against her will. Carter said what happened between them last month was consensual. The domestic violence charge carries up to 93 days in jail on conviction. Kidnapping can bring up to life in prison.
Investigators said Carter went to Garvin's house in Warren, Mich. She later called her grandmother, who came to the house with police.
"She came out with no coat on ... two black eyes and no hair," said Joan Yurisich, Carter's grandmother.
Garvin's lawyer said the charges are without merit.
