I posted about the new Batman film earlier but I thought I would start a thread about it. Christian Bale is the new Batman and Christopher Nolan (Memento) is directing it. Michael Caine is replacing Michael Gough as Alfred and Cillian Murphy (28 Days Later) is reportedly playing one of the villains. Other casting news is that Katie Holmes is up for the love interest and Viggo Mortensen's name was thrown around as another possible villain. I'm not sure about the storyline, but David Goyer (the Blade films) has written the script.

Michael Caine as Alfred? Alfred's a cool dude and all, but I can't really see Michael Caine in that role.
And I love Christian Bale, but Batman?
I haven't been too incredibly thrilled with the sequels, I'm afraid to watch this one now. It's got all the right actors in all the wrong parts. I hope I'm proved wrong.

As long as there's a restraining order preventing Joel Schumacher from having anything to do with the film, it has to be better than the last few films.
I'm still waiting to hear some news on the Darren Aronovsky Batman Year One.

Batman Year One? That sounds kinda cool. I know the story was already explained, but it'd be cool to watch a movie about his first crime fighting capers.

As far as I can understand, Batman Year One has been cancelled or at the very least at least postponed. Which is unfortnuate considering I like Darren's other films, 'Pi' and 'Requiem for a Dream'

id have to say batman is nothing without Tim Burton, he remade him from the old "ambiguously gay duo" days, and he has sucked hardcore ever since Tim left, e.i. batman 3 and 4. that IS why keaton wouldnt come back after all. I dont know, i love requiem and PIE so well see

If you haven't seen the Frank Miller Batman Year One comic check it out, it's brilliant.
I'm disappointed but not surprised that the Aranovsky Batman was shelved. It was too good to last...
Have you seen Batman: Dead End (http://www.theforce.net/theater/shortfilms/batman_deadend/index.shtml)? It's a fan film that, at eight minutes, in my opinion is WAY better than any of the Batman films so far.

Cool! I didn't know that there was a comic like that. I only knew about the regular comic book, I guess.
Is Dead End something that could be downloaded? Hmmmmm.... Holy Rockets Batman! Something new for me to search for while at work.
Hehehehe... btw I'm at work and bored :)

I agree with your first comment. I also heard the Aronovsky flick was scrapped. We'll just have to wait and see.
