i myself was dissapointed with house of 1000 corpses(though i'm the minority here)there were several story lines that never quite connected, that and a laundry list of gripes i need not get into.
now devil's rejects(the sequel)is an entirely different animal.it's fan-fucking-tastic! major character development,a linear storyline, good script and production design...they changed the whole color palette for this film.
it's like night and day...you'll want to check it out!

I sure will, most people think (random movies) that the first movie was the best, not for this one appearantly

the minute long shotgun suspense part was what made the movie for me.

The casual shooting of the cop was the only inspirational sequence in House of 1000 Influences.

I have to give the "underground" scenes the benefit of the doubt, though they weren't particularly stirring during my one and only viewing of the film.
Maybe I was tired, what with all the hard work and all.
Those prostitutes don't slice themselves up, you know.

i liked them because it turned the whole thing up a notch .. there WAS a Dr. Satan after all .. and he's nuttier than the guys up stairs ... and he's always working.
I like the way it was shot, set and lit .. i remember at the time thinking that R. Zombie had done his homework ... a really nice job for a first timer.

I agree, he was so influenced by Tobe Hooper, there were such common relations from 1000 corpses to Texas Chainsaw.
