I was truly bored and decided to google one of my favorite sick and demented people, in this case it was Elizabeth Bathory. Then you lucky people came to mind as I sat wondering if any of you knew who she was. I'd emagine that some of you do. There are a few movies about her or with her in it like Warewolf Shadow and El Retorno Del Hombre Lobo. I think theres one called The tomb of the Warewolf or something like that, but I haven't seen it, and probably won't. So yeah.

info on her is available in endless vampire legend/ history books, the best film about her exploits is Daughters of Darkness and imdb will list it. it would take hours to write even a third of her deeds here. she killed 650 virgins after torturing them because she believed bathing in their blood made her stay beautiful and the ravages of time would leave her beauty unscathed. her cousin was the king of hungary and as it was peasant girls she killed, the law turned a blind eye. when it was clear this practice wasn't working her sorceress, anna darvulia told her she now needed the blood of noble virgins, the local clergy decided this could go on no longer and being to afraid to kill her they walled her up in a room in her castle alive.

yes, supposedly she died 4 years later and she had nothing to drink or eat, ect... I was reading for a few hours last night and learned very few facts that I didn't already know. She's very interesting though and It was worth it.

jorge grau's ceremonia sangrienta
or
countess dracula starring ingrid pitt

but you can't be all bad as you seem to know some waldemar daninsky (though only night of the werewolf concerns elizabeth bathory)

She's a fascinating character. It just goes to show just how above the law the nobility were considered in medieval times. Of course, she paid for her crimes in the end, but that hardly lessens the sheer enormity of the horrors she committed.

I believe there's a newer film out about her. Can't quite remember the title, seems like it may be "Eternal."

Sorry, but no. Bathory was a real person. Some details may have been exaggerated over the passage of time, but she did exist.

i do believe in reincarnation so i'd love to hear a 'cosher' example of someone who was her in a past life and if so, what she remembered and how she (or he) dealt with it.
they say the vibrations in the ruins of csesthe castle (or was it mezde) can send you screaming into madness:eek:

It's possible. Where is this castle? Tell us some history about it. What do you know of Castle Glamis (Scotland) rumored to be one of the most haunted places in the world?

don't know much about glamis but i think it was the ancestral home of the late queen mother, i am aware it has a reputation of being haunted but with it belonging to the royal family (if it still does) access would be limited.
both of bathory's castles are in hungary csesthe in the carpathian foothills. can't remember all the details as the old books i had on vampire myth i bought in the late 70's/ early 80's are now in connecticut!

Maybe I ought to do some research. Maybe what this forum needs is a "Horror Places" forum to talk about all the scary/haunted places all over the world.

The deep South has really great haunted places. New Orleans use to be a hot spot. Poor guys... maybe in a few years they'll get the tours back up and running.

Yeah. It's very sad. I don't know there might be something in the energy of NO that makes it such a powerful ghost magnet. Europe has the best ghosts. There's a lot more history there.

They usually do. I've had that problem myself, Psiren.

It's funny because they don't believe in the powerful charms against harmful energies, but they believe in the harmful energies themselves. It doesn't make any sense to this little Not Quite So Wicked Witch.

I'll visit someday, but some of us are poor. ::tear::

Not everyone is smart enough to even take those simple precautions. tsk-tsk. oh-well, their problem.

Precisely. My dad (whom I've been getting on with better) has always said: If you don't listen (in terms of warnings) you have to feel.

A billion Witches and Psychics can't be wrong, except for Sylvia Brown, who sucks nuts.
