Heya all - just looking for a place to get a good looking replica chainsaw for a film i am going to shoot?
I've bought the 27" yellow chainsaw massacre prop, but it's not realistic enough ..
i'd love to get my hands on the chainsaw in this - http://www.horror.com/php/article-202-1.html
Anyone got ideas or suggestions?
(besides getting a real chainsaw! i dont wanna get anyone killed in my movie! - not for real anyways!)
Thanks guys!

that's definitely the best way to go. at this haunted house around here this guy useta come out with a chainsaw sans blades, and it was scary as crap! and he could even put it on people (not directly on their skin) and it wouldn't hurt em at all. I wouldn't necessarily recommend that.

you dont even have to remove the blades .. just drain the oil, gas, and take out the spark plug ..

I used to work at this haunted hayride where I live and we always used a real one without the blade it worked great, that is definitely the best way to go.:)

yep - the blade cant hurt anyone unless it's spinning ..
just drain the gas and oil ... and pull the sparkplug to be on the safe side..no way the thing can power on then.
if the blade is gone it'll look weird ..

I vote for taking off the blade and getting an old chainsaw from a garage sale or something. Once you fire up that old thing you should get enough noise and smoke to take any attention off the blade.

Keep the chain on, grind the blades down, round off the rakers and there you go. Looks more realistic but still could hurt a bit (not like it would REALLY hurt you but you could get a nik or 2).

Bah you'll be fine, the rounded rakers will keep the links from touching you but if they did the MOST they'd do is get a little skin caught between the links and give you a little rough cut or two heh.
*For legal reasons I do not condone the use of fully functioning chainsaws on the human body as injury may result.*
