Alright. So wtf is up with Ash. In Evil Dead, we all know he kicks some major demon butt, but in number 2, he goes right back to the same cabin and plays the same tape recording which unleashes the evil and possesses his girlfriend. why did he go back to the cabin and play the fucking tape?
??
and in the end of evil dead 2, ash is sent back in time right after he kills the demons to the 1300's(i think). in army of darkness, he has both of his hands, and is an "S-Mart" employee. where the hell did S-Mart come from?

The first 5-10 minutes of part II are an abbreviated recap of Evil Dead.

Yeah, personally I never really understood that either. I look at it as an entirely different film. Considering I watched II first, it's not hard for me. Alternate story, if you will.

Well that's a crock of bull, because if you watch The Evil Dead 2 commentary Sam Raimi himself says that Evil Dead 2 was what he wanted Evil Dead to be, and it was a remake with a higher budget.
The production company won't always get the director's facts straight.
In conclusion, Zwoti was right. It's a remake. (And a damn good one, too.)

Shit, I meant to say remake. I'm a damn fool, lately, lemme tell you. Too much time away from school= gradual dumbing.

correct, its pretty simple actually. its just filling you in on what happened on the first one incase you missed it.
Raimi has stated that the first part of EDII were meant as a recap. He originally wanted to use footage from the original movie but due to issues with the company that released it he couldn't. So he did some reshoots. All three films are meant to happen back to back. Trivia fact, Ash's gf is played by a different actress in each film.

I tend to think of it as a sequel-cum-remake, like Cube 2 only not shitty.
also, lol, I said "cum"

Okay, that was MY contribution:)
BTW...Demon Seed said 2 is DEFINITELY a remake, not a sequel...But, that has already been established here...He just wanted to contribute, too...Since these are his favorite movies of all time

because she dies in every one. its not a trivia fact. its a continuance. why did they name it evil dead 2 if its just an evil dead 1 remake/thing.

he has both hands at the beginning of army of darkness because It is before he goes to the cabin. then he has to chop off his hand because its possesed and then he makes a mechanical one after he goes back in time. another recap.
oh, and If you noticed, its army of darkness instead of evil dead III. common sense indicates that evil dead II is a remake.
