Do you have a link to 2005 releases or something? I can't remember what all came out this year.

I haven't seen it. Although, even if I had, I doubt it'd make the top 10 over Ice Harvest (or Walk the Line, which I plan on seeing sometime soon)

i don't think you should blush about spongebob -

i think you should bury your head in your hands from shame for having "mr & mrs. smith" on your top ten. . .

that film is on my top ten - - - -top ten list of things to poop on

Here's a slightly better link. This one goes to the 100 most rated (and therefore most widely seen) films of 2005.

http://us.imdb.com/List?year=2005&&votersort=on&&votes=500&&nav=/Sections/Years/2005/include-totalvotes&&heading=7;Most%20popular%20titles;2005%20by%20tota l%20votes

1- Sin City
2- Star Wars Episode III
3- The Devil's Rejects
4- Batman Begins
5- Saw 2
6- Land of the Dead
7- The Skeleton Key
8- Wedding Crashers
9- Robots
10- Mr. & Mrs. Smith

There are still several movies that look good that I haven't seen yet because they aren't on video or I just haven't gotten to them like 40 Year Old Virgin, History of Violence, Narnia, Cinderella Man, Corpse bride, Brothers Grimm, Lord of War, Good Night and Good Luck, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Aeon Flux & Deuce Bigelow: European Gigolo, so who knows? By the time I see all of those, my list could be entirely different.

On a related note, I think a Bottom 10 of 2005 would be eaiser to do than best. man, looking over that list, there were a lot of stinkers this year.

Not to be a nitpicker, but Crash, Fockers, and Spongebob were all 2004.

(I had to check because Fockers would have made my list too had it been released in 2005.)

Clooney fan eh? He might be buckin' for an Oscar this year with those two. From what I've heard, they're both fabulous!

The only place Crash was shown in 2004 was the Toronto Film Festival. It's a 2005 film

Good Night, and Good Luck is fucking amazing, although the bulk of it's awesomeness is David Strathairn's performance

btw, the Deuce Bigalow movie sucks hard

Hmpf. imdb has it down as a 2004. Not that it really matters, like I said it was nitpickin' to begin with.

I read an interesting interview with Clooney (who, to be honest I never thought was very good - either as an actor or for that boring first film he direct: Confessions of a Dangerous Mind)

But, i love his politics and in this interview with Rolling Stone he talks about how he's willing to risk his fame and career to make a few political statements. . . he's sort of cashing in his credibility to push his critique of the current state of America. . . i respect the hell out of that and, in fairness, thought he was excellent in both films (as an actor he was able to let the role be more prominent than his 'star quality') and the direction of GN&GL was really stunning.

IMDB usually puts movies' release dates as the first time they were shown. Like House of D is listed as 2002-ish IIRC

Well, Spongebob was released in late November in the US and early January in NZ, and Fockers was released in late December in the US. Not sure when it was released in NZ, but I don't think it was that long after the US release.

So you guys are probably only a couple months behind us stubborn. And like STE said, Crash was 05. (imdb mislead me.)
