Its seems as though it is trendy to hate HOTC, I just do not understand it. Maybe I am just jaded because I enjoyed the flic so much and I do not like to see the criticism, but damn it seems as though there is a HOTC hater bandwagon. Am I wrong or does anyone else think this? Gimme your feedback either way and feel free to mix in a explanation as to why you feel "this" way.

Yes House of 1000 Corpses.. But Return you still did not answer the first question as if it is trendy to dislike this flic. And what about the film made it a 70%?

I didnt answer the first question because I dont have an answer. I guess lots of people are turned off by the fact that it's quite similar to TCM and, in places, could be considered a rip-off. Meh, I enjoyed it.
I gave it a 70%, which I consider a fairly good mark, mostly because it was just plain crazy. Lots of it didnt make much sence, the violence was pretty good [Cop getting shot in the head, what a great shot]. It also had some very cool characters and, contrary to what most would say, an awesome ending. I thought that was just crazy enough to put it over the top, in a good way.
It lost some marks cause most of the actors [Exc. the Firefly clan] were pretty bad, and it drug along pretty bad in parts. Overall though, it was a pretty good movie that doesnt deserve all the slander it gets, IMO

What moron would dis a movie to be trendy? Unless, of course, one is an adolescent, then that might make sense. The acting in this movie was horrid, but the worst was the sudden appearance of --- an underworld. Pssssffffsstttt. Laughable.

my reason is basically cos ..
i didnt like the fucking movie..simple..
no hidden agenda..
no secret meetings with underworld corpse..etc..
no vigilante going on here.

Why can't teenagers(or anybody significantly young for that matter) ever make a decision without it being passed off as comformity?

I completely agree with you Austin. Imo, a person likes a movie or they dont, age has not one damn thing to do with it!!! The same applies to it being"trendy" not to like it, you do or you don't!

The majority of good horror films were given shit exactley like this when they came out. it does seem to be a trend to hate this film. the horror movement used to have solidarity now popular opinon rules and people go with the sway (not just this site.....everywhere).
People try to talk the talk and don't have real opinons (i.e regurgitation of the popular belief) a lot of the time, easy to attack the new school scared to spit at the old.
This movie is genius and takes a bit of time to digest (like a lot of the classics). Probably one of the best horror films I've seen in the last 8 or so years. The first time I saw it I saw it I was entirley sure what to make of it.... but now i love it. These are the sort of horror films that should be made instead of the remakes. People attacked Fulci and Argento in the same way (and before you skitz out me saying this remember RZ works within the American film system).
I personally love this film because it is combination of 1970s American-Interantional films and E.C comics molested by Ed Roth, Jeff Gaither and Eric Pigors.
Haters have always kept this genre down and its easy to see this will never change.
Get out of the past and take a breath of fresh air.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
Back on topic, I also thoroughly enjoyed House of 1000 Corpses and Devil's Rejects. I think the were well done.

I didn't hate this movie to be trendy. I hated it because I thought it sucked. Some of you are having problems with people not liking this flick. In fact I have never seen such blatant disrespect for other people's opinions. Some of you have made it clear that if you don't like this movie, you're stupid.
I am not being trendy when I say I didn't like that pieve of shit. If you've got a problem with my OPINION then you can kiss my Witchy ass.

I liked the movie myself, I can't see anyone disliking it to be trendy.I'm sure if people disliked it, it's simply because they disliked it for their own reasons, everyone is certainly entitled to their own opinions.

^^ Totally dude. The point was is that its going down as a "cool" movie to hate. A lot of people are scared to say they like it because they'll lose "cred".

While this syndrome is of course not the rule, following the herd and bandwagon jumping on both negative and positive views with absolutely no individual interpretation whatsoever is nontheless rife.
Quote, Homer Simpson: "Marge! Someone squeezed all the life outta these kids!"
Part of growing up, or something altogether more sinister?
This will upset only those to whom it applies, their parents, students, liberals, fat people and probably women for some reason.
:p
P.S: this film is overrated, with the aforementioned shooting of the cop the only real surprise - the Texas hinterland/wacko family thing is back in vogue (did it ever really go away?), but the clever edits and effects weren't enough to stir the blood - nor was the supposedly iconic horror imagery HOTC was supposed to be filled with.

Loved the film.
Haig puts on a great performance. If I ever put my hands up when someone pulls a gun on me I am sticking up my middle fingers.
Moseley also puts on a great perfromance and is quite believable as Otis.
Personally I think he should get an oscar for Devils Rejects.
Sheri Moons performance is questionable but I am willing to overlook it.
The only thing that kinda is missing is a little more about Dr. Satan.

E_C, you're typically a cool individual, but you are taking this way too far. It's like you're on a crusade to bring together those that liked the film and insult those that thought it was shit. The fact is, Rob Zombie could give a fuck whether or not I liked his pulp horror film, so why should you give a shit?
As to whether or not I'm a Witch...that's not something you want to find yourself on the wrong end of...;)

And that should be enough. If someone wants to ask you why because they're interested that's one thing.
Point taken, Pink.

I think HoTC was just a polarizing film. You either like it or you don't, which is also the case for the movies it was patterned on. I liked it. Certainly didn't love it, but I thought it was good fun. The Devil's Rejects is about ten orders of magnitude better, in my opinion.

I don't think its "trendy".
A lot of people agree that the movie sucks, its a general opinion.
I'm sure most people here would agree Lindsay Lohan needs her throat torn out, but it wouldn't be trendy.

Eh... People fight, we get on eachother's nerves, we're not having sex or at least good masterbation. So, I mean, people are gonna get angry, maybe get really angry, but we're all friends in the end...or maybe we're more like relatives. Anyway, the moderators (you guys correct me if I'm wrong), they're not going to reign in on every conversation bringing down the hammer of doom. (Although you never can tell about Zwoti).

No I'm not. You're just takin' it that way. I'm just stating my opinon.... last time I checked this is what this board was for. I was just saying that a lot of people blindly follow the popular belief when it comes to these things.
Haha I was wondering when you were gonna read the witch thing.
At least this thread has sparked some sort of debate about horror films and is a lot more interesting than the singles chatroom shit that goes on WAY to fucking much on this board.
