"The God I believe in ain't short of cash mister...."

Live "Bullet the Blue Sky" U2

Opinions on Bono??

Genuine caring person who is on a crusade to change the world???

Self absorbed rock star who feels guilt for all the money that he makes while children across the globe starve and die??

fairplay to the guy, with the influencial means for wanting what he believes, is best for the underprivileged people of the world, unfairplay for him believing, the rest of the world, has the means to support the underprivileged people.

Yeah..i totally dont get that..
They raise all this money for poor countries etc...granted ..at least they are doing something..but it makes me wonder...do they really have a cause or is
it just another publicity stunt.
I mean..when they travel to these places
they stay in luxury...they wine n dine on the best .
If they really want to help the cause...teach these ppl about birth control
..stop breeding...stop adding more mouths to feed n as much as i hate to say this..
vasectomy n hysterectomy all the way.
Money is obviously not helping as these govts get the biggest cuts ..as well as the rebels.
Shit...we have our own poor to deal with.

He's a known terrorist sympathiser and I always feel if he was as pious as he makes out he would give all his money away to worthy causes and raise awareness by slumming it with the people he wants to 'save'.
Having said that Joshua Tree is a fucking great album.

I'd say he's a little of both. I don't necessarily disagree with his views. That said, U2 was one of the greatest bands of the Eighties. Too bad they're terrible now.

Agree, except for the fact that I don't believe he feels any guilt. He wants to be a legendary rock star, but unfortunately his music is just dull... so he goes on these crusades so people will remember him. He's even given himself the one word name so people will remember him better...

What a douche.

Actually, Bono or Bono Vox (Good voice) was his nickname in high school. It was also a name his fellow students elected to call him.

Eventhough U2 is a very "Christian" band...and they are... I still like the ballads about love.

The Joshua Tree was a great album, probably one of the greatest of the decade. War has a few good songs, Achtung Baby was great, I don't care what anyone says. Rattle and Hum, both movie and album was pretty damn good. It was after Achtung Baby that I stopped tuning in, except for Stay (Far Away, So Close)

I'm a U2 fan, and have been since middle school. They're coming to Charlotte at some point, and I hope to go see them. I've already been to two or three of their concerts.

I got tickets to go see them for free years ago from an Xs sister who could not go.

Was totally blown away. Except for public enema, they opened, it was a great show.

Right up there with Huey Lewis and the News. Dont laugh they sing a'capella awesome.

Huey Lewis in the News? haven't listened to them in ages. just saw that Huey Lewis is currently on Broadway in Chicago. i'm having trouble picturing this.

anyway--Bono? i like some of the music he's been a part of. as for his current public persona, i like that he strives to raise awareness of issues that matter (AIDS in Africa), but am not sure he's always as well-informed as he seems to think he is. whatever--he's a rock star.

That one'll do.

It would be fun to tie him up and make him watch you stamp on his silly coloured glasses.

And then to have a shit in The Edge's stupid little hat.

I like U2, but Pressure, that one almost made Dr. Pepper come out my nose.

Today, in the parking lot of a PayLess Shoe store I saw Bono. He looked kind of seedy. In fact, when I first saw him walking towards me I was joking in my head, saying things like, “Hey, look, here comes Bono in the PayLess parking lot.” And then, when he came closer, sure as fuck, it was Bono, black jeans, leather jacket, goggles and all. He also had on a pair of Pony hi-tops, the kind with the puffy foam tongue. He wore them unlaced and his jeans were tucked into the open tops of his hi-tops. And as he passed me he stopped and waved an arm, gesturing off towards the nicoteen yellow smoke spewing off some out of control wildfire ravaging a distant ridgeline.

He pointed and he said, “One day, this whole fucker is gonna burn.” Then he hucked his empty BigGulp cup into traffic and kept on walking.

That Bono, he’s deep.
