I found them both to be along the same vein to be honest. They're quite similar, but Id have to go with Land.

I'm a huge George Romero fan but I'd have to go with the "Dawn of the Dead" remake as my pick for the better movie.:D

Do we have to pick one?
I wasn't a huge fan of either, thought they were both dissapointing in different ways.

I think land. It was about time he made a movie showing how man adjusted to living in a world of zombies, and not just what happens at the start when they first appeared. But i like em all, great stuff .

Land, I can't turn on Romero after all he's given to me.

Land, I liked Dawn but the zombies didn't appeal to me.

I liked them both. However, Land continued the series, where as Dawn was a remake, so I have to go with Land.

I really did like both of them, but I think I preferred Dawn slightly. Land just seemed to have a different style than the other films in Romero's series. The smart zombies bugged me a little.

"Land" I just consider the Dawn remake to not really be part of the Romero universe. Or Zombieverse.

Its quite a tossup really. Land had good parts, and bad parts..some of the kills looked cheesey at times. But it was more creative in a sense.
Dawn was an excellent take on a remake, and it was a lot of action..a lot of the kills were great and the zombies were a bit pumped up.
But is it just me or did "Big Daddy" in Land of the Dead, kind of resemble Michael Jackson morphing into a werewolf in the hit 80's music video, Thriller?

I watched both for the first time over the weekend. I like them
both. But the ending of Land irritated me...I don't want to give anything away but maybe someone knows what I am talking about...

I think everyone already knows. I saw land of the dead in theaters, and I forgot how awful it was. I hate it so much... The zombies using machine guns? That's a pile of shit right there... And the slow zombies don't appeal to me, i had forgotten they weren't fast like the dawn remake. I think the fast zombies are extremely frightening, when they run at you like that, in packs...

i prefered the Dawn of the Dead remake because i had low expectations .. and i ended up liking the characters a lot.
I was dissapointed by Land .. but i'll watch it again eventually with adjusted expectations and probably appreciate it more.

I really liked the characters in DOTD too. Especially the one red haired girl who loved that dog.

I hated her, I would've sent her out alone to get it. I love animals and all but when it comes to survival lines have to be drawn. She'd end up being left behind I'm afraid (if she insisted on saving that dog).

Thats not why I liked her though. But i was horrified of her dying, because i always feel bad for the weaker ones. I just laughed when that fuckin asshole guy who always wore black got it at the end, and when the man fell on that bitch with the chainsaw.. hah!

I thought the best character in DOTD (remake) was definetly Andy. If you watch the extras on the dvd, his video diary is brilliant!!
Plus, the follow up scene from the movie is severly depressing...:(
