In the wake of the recent terrorist bombings in Jordan, we are absolutely devastated to confirm the passing of Moustapha Akkad and his daughter, Rima Akkad Monla.


For those who don't know Moustapha Akkad was the major producer of the Halloween series.

So b/c of his death it is possible that there will not be anymore Halloween's, not even a remake.

This is a terrible tragity, and I personly offer my prayers to the family.

Yeah I saw that about Akkad. I do think they'll continue making these films because producers are a dime a dozen out in LA and this is an already established franchise, meaning H9 will make a certain amount of money no matter who directs it, who produces it, and how shitty the storyline is. People will still check it out just to see for themselves.

IMDB has a message board for Halloween: Retribution and it looks like it's slated for a 2006 release but is currently still in pre-production. I could definately see Akkad's passing delaying the release a bit while the scramble for more funds, but I would be willing to wager that this franchise will live on.

Another Rapper To Star in 'Halloween' Film
After the success of his film "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" and an upcoming video game release, producers have announced that rapper Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson will star in the ninth installment of the "Halloween" series. Plot details have not been released, but sources say that it will involve slasher Michael Meyers in an inner-city setting. Jackson will be starring along-side Larenz Tate (Crash, Ray), and Dania Ramirez (Fat Albert, the upcoming X-Men 3).

Halloween is greatly in danger of becoming another Leprechaun. There were some redeeming aspects of Resurrection, such as the death of Laurie at the beginning and the kids at the party gathered to watch the show, but another Halloween with Fifty Cent is going to turn the franchise into something akin to the old Adam West Batman with another out of place celebrity guest star each installment. Plus, Fifty cent has no place in ANY man's legacy. God, if I die I hope Fifty Cent isn't part of my legacy. That would suck.

While no director has been officially approached to direct the ninth Halloween film, one name that has been mentioned several times is Russell Mulcahy (Highlander, Ricochet). Mulcahy has yet to comment.

But, the Asylem story was a proposed idea to the Akkads, however it wasn't optioned.

But now I'm hearing that Akkad's son will be taking over the film now so we will see.
