I am in the process of writing a novel.
It's my first, I am not too familiar with the guidelines to getting published. I need someone to lend a comment on what I should do.
I'd also like to know how difficult it is to get published.

Anyone with comments?

I have a friend who is a published author, and basically what he did was send his manuscript (typed) to a bunch of publishing companies that could be interested. For instance, there's publishing companies that only publish women's books, some that only publish stuff that occurs locally, etc. He got quite a few rejection letters before it was finally accepted thgouh, so don't give up.

Thanks for the advice, I don't intend to give up.

How did it work out for him? Is he making a living out of it? Or is it just a hobby?
