I watched NOTLD today too. But for the, like, tenth time. Great movie, but Barbra still pisses the fuck out of me.
I realized, also, today that I have a cut version, which blows. I noticed the whole opening scene with the guys burying the "first zombie" is cut from my version. Fuck that. Anyone know of any good copies of this film?

You must be talking about the 25th Anniversary edition which includes added footage, one of which is the burial of the first zombie who attacks Barbara and her brother. I obtained mine from play.com.

I think You mean the 30th anniversary edition.
it features the cut and uncut versions of the film.
I got mine from Columbia House which was a little expensive, I'm sure You could get it cheaper somewhere else.:)

I must have a cut version, too, cause that scene doesnt even ring a bell.
Awesome movie though.

Did the beggining piss anyone off as much as it did me? the zombie is chasing after the car, and she starts driving away from it at like 2 mph.....and hits a tree and crashes. very, very slowly...

i think the word you're after is "new footage".....personally i prefer the original version rather than some "new" version with 15 minutes of scenes directed by somebody else
so i think you'll agree that the use of the words "cut & uncut" is unjustified

Yes the words I'm after are "new footage" so use of the words "cut & uncut" is unjustified.
Hopefully overtime, I can be forgiven for this oversight.
regardless both films are included for Your viewing pleasure so enjoy.:)
Thank You zwoti for enlightening Me.:D

Yah, after some research i found out that, as you say, that footage wasn't even from Romero, so fuck it.
I don't want anything to do with it, I like having the original "cut".

The original version is definitive - the 30th anniversary release (in the UK at least) added on the aforementioned "burial" footage with the same actor in the role as the opening zombie, but this and other "new" scenes in this version were shot three decades after the original film by co-writer John A Russo and spliced in.
The result was always going to be desperate, with Bill Hinzman looking ridiculous in trying to look 30 years younger as the graveyard-zombie and all the "new" stuff looking and sounding terribly out of place.

I saw the "new" version with the added "new" scenes ("Directed by John Russo") once, a few years ago. It was interesting for a laugh, and I had fun watching it (I like the priest and his dog named "Mushu"--c'mon, it's funny in a totally weird way).
It does bother me, however, that people have been confused into thinking that the "new" version has anything to do with the actual film in its original cut. Those scenes were photographed and added nearly 30 (count 'em!) YEARS LATER, folks! By another director entirely!
The original edit was the film that scared the bejesus out of so many people. See the MILENNIUM EDITION of NOTLD, in the metallic red case--it's been THXed, it looks and sounds better than it ever did, and it's a classic horror movie that's worth your time and money. It's also got enough special additional features to choke a couple of horses! I'll get down offa my soapbox now. Thank you! I know I'm sayin' a bunch of stuff that has already been posted by other people. But I wanted to reiterate, just because reading this thread in the morning makes my skin crawl. Time for oakmeal!

My version is by a company called Madacy Entertainment. There are no special features or anything extra, but it was $5 brand new, which was perfect. I also have another copy of NOTLD which is part of my boxed set of 50 classic horror movies. it's the same original version as the Madacy Entertainment one.

I really thought the footage in the anniversary version was unnecessary and a little obnoxious. The only interesting thing about it was the immunity to zombie-ism that the Preacher had, might have been cool to have this explored further throughout the quartet.

If they made a T-shirt that said
"SPIKE the dead!!"
I would wear it, just to be stupid.
or even
"This is my dawg Moo-Shoo!"

Yeah, I think that everyone who's seen NOTLD, anniversary or not, wants to smack Barb up side her blonde noggin. I think that I could honestly say that I would not leave my brother, unconscious in a grave yard, with some old fucker lurching around. We'll give Barb a resounding, "Pussy!" cheer.

I didn't like this movie that much. Probably 'cause I don't enjoy zombie films that much.

Who's still on about the film being "cut", i.e. shorn of the opening zombie-burial sequence?
This was an add-on, filmed a few years ago, and looks and smells of some emu shit.
Q: Have you seen the size of emu eggs?

Oh, hell yah, Zombi 2 is a great film. The shark scene is hella phenominal.
great -now he's going to be obsessed with zombie-shark movies (which, in fairness, is an awfully limited number)

I'd buy a ticket now, I wouldn't care who acted, directed, or even what the story was like. Give me a zombie shark and I'm there.

doesnt that mean the zombie sharks only attack other sharks ?
as a rule the zombies arent inter-species are they ?
(the shark attacked the zombie in Zombie 2 (it just didnt know what the hell it was getting into)
just think .. eventually all zombie sharks that dont attack people ...
i'd take up surfing ... even in australia.

That is a really crazy train of thought....transform all the sharks into zombie sharks so they won't eat people...you could do that with lions and bobcats, etc, also.
Then you would open your door and see this big zombie cat standing outside, its eyes glazed over and jaw hanging open. Just standing there, swaying and drooling. But it would only want to eat an un-zombified cat, if one came by.

I thought zombie would pretty much eat anything alive. Dogs, birds... I guess it depends on the film. I think the only reason we don't see more is the fact that a fast little dog would be far to difficult to catch with the motor skills that a zombie posesses.
