The first one was cool for its time, but today it doesn't hold up. The second one was really crapy: 1) several of the original actors didn't return and they were replaced by crapy actors, 2) the story was horrible, it made no sense, 3) the fights were crapy, 4) the effects still don't hold up, they looked really computer generated.

The only early CGI movie I've seen that holds up to today is the first Jurassic Park. That was a special effects masterpiece.

It is Goro, very good character, esp in the first M.K. video game.

I agree, the music of the first movie is excellent while watching the fights. Normally, i don't like fighting movies and techno music. But thisi is different :p

I liked the first one a lot. Thought the second one sucked. (How can you kill off Johnny Cage in the first 10 minutes of the movie?)

I'm not overly excited about this, but I'll see it when it comes out. I used to be a huge fan of the games back in the Sega Genesis days.

I'm actually looking forward to this one. One was one of the the only really entertaining video game movies (Resident Evil being the other one). The second was okay, but I was still pissed off by the missing actors and bad CGI. But, still a good way to pass the time. I have yet to see a Mortal Kombat on the big screen, but hope to break that once this one comes out.

The first two were great, mindless action movies. The kind of movie that requires next to no brain activity, and that's not a bad thing. I enjoyed them both and look forward to the next one.

Help us all....I hated the first two. Dumb effects and stupid scripting. This is one movie I will probably not rent.

but there has not been any new news on it no?

it says it will be released this yr but no more information?

it says the actor that plays raden in the first film will be bak?

but i am thinking how can they make a 3rd one?

cox the emperor died and the evil god (father to raden and the emperor) died?

so wat could be next?

and if they are making the film hopefully it will have state of the art effects and it would be a big budget film.

I would not expect a big budget on this one considering the second, and even the first didn't make that much money. Usually, studios aren't in the habit of throwing big money on a series with a poor track record, unless say a big time director singed on (Spielberg, Peter Jackson, Sam Raimi, etc...). In fact I am surprised that they are making a third one. I wouldn't be surprised if it went straight to DVD.

Here there is news in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 3.

Here it says that Mortal Kombat 3 Devastation (The Movie) well it will be a sequal to the first film. It will continue the story of the first film.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mortal_Kombat:_Devastation

And here is an interview.

http://mk3movie.mortalkombatonline.com/

After many a mixed-bag of rumours, Moviehole can confirm that filming on the third film, title "Mortal Kombat : Devastation", will begin in May.

Essentially skipping over the events of the second film, "Devastation" reunites the cast of the original - Christopher Lambert as Rayden, Linden Ashby as Johnny Cage, Robin Shou as Liu Kang, Chris Casamassa as Scorpion with Talisa Soto and Sandra Hess in talks to reprise their roles as Kitana and Sonya Blade, respectively - with the remaining parts being cast as we speak.

The film is being developed by Mink ["Into the Sun"] and Threshold Entertainment. The Asst.Producer is Neil James.

I read that this film was supposed to have filmed after Mortal Kombat 2 but as Mortal Kombat 2 did not do so well.

Here is a link to Mortal Kombat 2 if you go to the segual section it will explain what will happen as well.

Well, if they bring back the cast from the original, I'll check it out...I always loved Christopher Lambert....even older, he's still hot. And I'm glad they're ignoring the second one. That was one of the more retarded piles of shit I've seen....

I really enjoyed the first movie i found it good.

I like when they started fighting and the cool song came out lol.

i like the character goro etc..

hopefully in the 3rd film they have him as he is a good character.

also hopefully the emperor is cooler and hopefully they will show the characters from the 2nd and 1st and even more.

as the 3rd film will carry on from when the 1st one ended well they can show the characters from the 2nd film and many many more :D :D

I want the film to be ready now :p

Hopefully the special effects are one of the latest technology as the special effects since the first movie as improved a lot.

I think the movie will be very very good.

i am looking forward to Christopher Lambert as i think he was better as Lord Raiden the the other one. He looks cooler :p

Hopefully its not such a low budget film. but if it is a low budget film hopefully its such a good film with great special effects that they would make another film :D

When I hear about movies like this I worry about the film industry. I mean can Hollywood not come up with anything more original, are they really picking at the bottom of the barrel for ideas such as this and remakes?

But then I stop and think that there might be hope with some of the films coming in '07 such as Spider-Man 3 (the jury is still out on this one based on the direction its going), the Transformers, and Ghost Rider.
