If you can get by the French to English dubbing, it is well worth it.

I was really torn by this one as I'd read so many of the folks here on Horror flame it to pieces. I actually watched the french language with American subtitles version (I speak a little french and hate the sight of dubbing).

I enjoyed it very very much until the hook at the end and then, to be honest, felt totally cheated. In fairness, having read the various posts here I knew the gist of the surprise ending - but I felt that the film set this up all wrong. I don't mind being misled, I can even deal with a faulty narrator - or a la Usual Suspects, a narrator who lies to me. But for the film to just totally show me things that did not happen without mediating these lies through a narrator is just cheating.

I did watch all the extras - cause I do that kind of thing - and noticed that the director and writers had a different plan to set up the whole story as an account of one of the "victims". But Luc Beeson (producer and director of The Professional) wanted them to make the reveal less telegraphed. I think this was a big mistake.

It just came in along with my other Halloween movies so I'm going to watch it soon. :)
