Hey all
O.K. I haven't got a lot to go on here but I'm hoping somebody will be able to I.D. a movie I remember from when I was a child that stuck with me all these years.
I saw the film sometime in the second half of 1982 to help roughly when it was made.
The only bit I really remember was the bit that scared the cr@p out of me.
Somebody was looking somebody else in the face and whistling one continuous note whilst doing so. As they were staring into the other persons eyes their face started to burn and burst into flames. I'm pretty sure you could only see the victim from behind until the end of the shot when they turned round and their face was all black and burnt to a crisp. I'm pretty sure the victim was also a nun in the black robe etc.

Hopefully this will be enough to jog somebodys memory as I'd love to know what it is.

Cheers
Toby

not sure about the film, but has Cambridge still got that manky oneway road system near Staples stationery store, because last year I must have driven past Staples, going round and round about ten times, looking for a damn hotel I was booked into.

"Scanners"? People burning? I don't recall people being on fire in that movie. Exploding heads, yeah, but not burning. "Firestarter" yes, but not "Scanners". But wasn't "Firestarter" in 1984?

Aye Shanks the awful one-way is still there, that area of cambridge is a nightmare!!!
Definately not scanners or firestarter as I have them both in my collection.

There's a little tradition we have here. It's called give people who just come for a movie I.D. the wrong title, and secretly laugh from the safety of our computers as they burn $5 on the wrong movie rental.

Don't think it was the fury as the person with the special power was a guy in a suit I think (I know memories are rarely accurate but this one is so vivid).
Don't think it was the sender either but from a quick read on IMDB I think I may search that one out anyway.

Any other suggestions???

I now know what it is so I thought I better put you all out of your misery!!! I posted the same thread on a pre-cert site that I use and somebody came up trumps.

Monster club 1980

Sounds very cheesy so probably right up my street. Now all I've got to do is find an old copy to re-live that terrifying moment and discover it really hasn't stood the test of time ;)

Cheers for all your suggestions
