Good film, loved it...it was about a group of kids that went to a private island, and got killed, right?
If that's the one-I loved it.

Not so, the entire original family was massacred a year before the Lutz's moved in.

The only reason Poltergiest was good as it is because it was directed by Tobe Hooper. But what sucks about that is every time he would get just a little too creepy, Spielberg would step in and take over. That's why the movie seems to get creepy, then family-oriented, creepy, then family-oriented. Still a decent movie, though despite that. Haven't seen the remake of Amityville, but I suppose I'll wait for it to come to video.

I was pissed at one of my friends for taping a lame ass reality show over my tape of Day Of The Dead when it aired late on one of the movie channels, with the gore intact. Kinda surprised me with that being how lame the movie channels are now regarding gore.

If you watch the likes of Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elmstreet, don't pass on April Fool's Day. It's just as campy a horror film. Watching that as a child, I was so fascinated with the kitchen knife with the retractable blade.

So that's what it was! I couldn't really make up my mind about Poltergeist because there are scenes that are truly creepy but then the "family" theme comes out, which I think ruins the entire film.

That reminds me of Michele Soavi's La Chiesa. The horror aspect which is evident in his Stagefright and Dellamorte Dellamore was completely sabotaged with ridiculous plot twists, dialogue, and death scenes. Dario Argento's name was part of the credits. Surprise, surprise.

He is price-less! Pit & the Pendulum, Conquerer Worm ring any bells? :)

Could you imagine if Tobe Hooper had full control to direct the entire film without Spielberg butting in? That would've made Poltergiest an instant classic. :) Tobe would've most likely had the direction going almost past the boundaraies of the PG rating. ;)

"Too bad you're whacko
(Whacko)
How sad your marbles are gone
(All gone)
We could be dancing 'til dawn
But you're too weird for words"

Every time I think of this movie, I start singing the Jerry Whitman song from the end credits. lol

Also, does anyone know whatever happened to Deborah Foreman (Muffy/Buffy)? I remember her in exactly this movie and Valley Girl then that's the last I know of her. I'm going to have to look her up.

Have this on a DVD with MY BLOODY VALENTINE (1981). Not a bad film, but similar in tone to a lot of the horror franchises at the time.

It was okay. I like a good twist to an ending of a movie; predictable just isn't as fun.

I liked April Fool's Day. I have to say, though... If my friend's played an April Fool's joke like that on me? Yeah, there would be a body count. haha
