Anyone seen it? Based on the story by Lovecraft, although it doesnt have alot to do with the story it gets it's name from. Supposedly, it's more based on The Shadow Over Insmouth, which I havnt read.

Ive watched this a few times. If you can look past the really bad CGI, it's a damn good movie IMO. Very atmospheric, great [although not abundant] gore, original [not to mention really bizare] plot....even a bit creepy in parts. Highly recomended.

It is one of my favoutites. There are some amateur sides observed(esp about visual technics and details), however, the atmosphere in this film is awesome.

It is an excellent alternative for those, who are tired of modern Hollywood horror, like me :)

The best Lovecraft adaptation so far, in my opinion. I didn't like the CGI, but then again, I never do. They definitely got the Lovecraftian atmosphere and the sense of cosmic dread and horror just right though.

Really like this one, recently bought it from a supermarket for less than £3, absolute bargain.

Definitely one of the better Lovecraft adaptions, and really pretty faithful to the story Shadow Over Innsmouth. Stuart Gorden captured the feeling of the town and it's inhabitants pretty well I thought - quite like how I imagined it all! It's not neccessarily one of my all-time favorites, but it's one of those fun movies I can watch over and over... I liked it a lot.

I wasn't too into this movie, but it is better than "Necronomicon" as that movie was so scattered with different stories it was annoying.

Necronomicon sucked so bad it hurts. I like the idea of doing an anthology of Lovecraft stories or suchlike, but in this case the stories were butchered to oblivion and back. I was not impressed. At all.

You really like that movie??? Ì'm a big fan of HP Lovercraft and when i saw that....thing I needed to throw up.Of course it's a Shadow over Insmouth adaptation (GET THE ORIGINAL HISTORY) but without any respect with the book. If any of you want to see any movie that made justicie to Lovercraft world try to see In the mouth of madness from John Carpenter

I like In The Mouth Of Madness" better. However Dagon is also among my favourites.

That one I didn't know was based off of one of Lovecraft's books. I really liked that one. "In The Mouth Of Madness" is one that would definitely be in my movie collection. I dunno.... I suppose it would be the story, but also relying a lot on the producer and director. John Carpenter can really make some killer horror movies. "The Thing" comes to mind.... ;)

Ahhh, loosely based. Okay, still a good movie. I have heard people say that Lovecraft's style is really hard to inpertrip to film. I say it depends on the producer, director, and how well the script is written.

^Dagon is, of course, directly based on "The Shadow Over Innsmouth." In my comment, I was referring to In the Mouth of Madness.
