I definately love this time of year, especially living in New England...it's nice and cool out and all the leaves are turning pretty colors and falling:D I'm actually gonna go out and get some pumpkins later on so I can paint them :) Yes, I'm corny:p
But yeah, this is the best time of year to just curl up at night and have a horror movie marathon. :)

Wow, very cool :) I never really thought about the fact that it's not celebrated in other countries...I guess I took it for granted.

I also love this time of year. MoonLit, I think I'm moving to New England just for the Fall season. I know that upstate NY is a place for me.

What I hate about this time of year are the petty religious folk that stir a cauldron of their lies and spitefulness to ruin it for everyone. So, that's one thing I'll, as a Witch, apologize for. We didn't mean to make the holiday so contreversial. After all, it IS OUR holiday....but we invite you to share it....because unlike others, we're nice people.

I want to pose a question to our parents here at HDC. If your adorabley or horrifically dressed up little sweetheart comes home with highly negative religious tracks (Jack Chic being my main concern), what are you going to do? Do you go to that house and tell them that their religious backstabbing in unwelcom in your family or do you live and let live and use the tracks to add fuel to the cozy fire in the fire place?

I'll tell my girls that THESE are the people who's houses get egged and toilet papered after everybody goes to sleep......and then proceed to egg and toilet paper there house after they go to sleep:p

Actually,I will ignore it and see it for what it is,people just trying to be nice and doing what they think it right. Most of them really are not trying to be mean-spirited.
The good thing here is,even though we do have alot of churches-people just don't do that sort of stuff-they stay home or go to a church event in lieu.

@filmmaker:the $1 movies are at' Everything's A Dollar',Dollar General and Dollar Tree or gasp,gag,huff=Walmart
(but don't go there ,that's how they get you-ITS JUST A DOLLAR BUY BUY BUY NOW WE HAVE YOUR SOUL MUUUHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA)

Its the same here in the UK for the most part. Small numbers of kids will go out trick or treating but no where near the numbers in the States. They're more likely to 'celebrate' mischief night on the 30th the little fuckers!

I wanted to mention also that a couple of houses down the street have done extremely well, going all out and plastering the outsides of their houses with lots of decorations, pumpkins, goblins, witches and lights, and the like. I don't know these people, have no idea who they are, but I do know that they certainly must be the very GOOD PEOPLE we hear about, and my hat's off ta them. These are people who seem to do the most decorating for Halloween, which, you know, is really good and stuff.

Hold on, it's barely the middle of October.

Halloween season? Isn't it only one night of dressing-up and having fun with the kids?

Now I know in these frenzied, unhappy times Christmas tends to come earlier every year with the TV adverts and men in Santa suits and so-on... but Halloween?

Is this odd over-celebration just an American thing, or world-wide?

These people down my street just put up the most amazing halloween decorations I have EVER seen.
They have a graveyard with zombies and ghosts, they have the whole house lit up with orange and blue highlights, they have a witch in the window and a giant spider coming out of their chimney.
Words just do not do them justice-this would win an award if there was such a thing.

Halloween propaganda started in the 2nd week of September.
I started seeing Christmas stuff 2 weeks ago.

**Hiya filmmaker stranger!:) **

Well HELLO there! You pretty cat.

I have seen a few houses with some real nice stuff...there is one a few blocks away and they have the outside of the house lined with lit carved foam jack-o-lanterns...that alone looks expensive to do, but it's very classy and pretty looking.....

I tell everyone that if we ever get outta debt-I am going all out for halloween.
I want, like the people up the street,a graveyard in my front yard,I want ghosties in the trees and all kinds of icky giant bugs.
Skeletons hanging from nooses with little signs that say why they were hanged.
I want to trick out the inside of my house with creepy music and lights and scary things that go bump in the night,so that when the trick-or-treaters come, they have a haunted house tour.
That's just a short version of what I want.

Oh my goodness! I just discovered that my favorite Halloween attraction is doing its FINAL RUN this year, and I am simply speechless. But here is their website...

Oh my goodness

http://www.hauntinggrounds.org/

They won't be doing their haunt after this year, but they are maintaining the site so people can come and look and see what all the hubbub was about. They put some animated gifs up on the site here and there, so you can see what some of their effects look like moving.

I am so going to miss this thing!!!!! Truly a first-class haunted attraction.

I wish I could say I love this time of year. We dont really do anything here, unless your under 12 yrs old. :)

There might be something happening around here, but would have to check out the internet for that. Too lazy right now haha.

But if there was something happening , im sure I would enjoy it.

That's what I'm getting at - it's interesting how only the Americans (Canadians?) go berserk over the Celtic Samhain these days.

Its strange how it seems to be just northern america who really celebrate halloween. All we get are small numbers of kids coming round threatening to throw eggs at your house unless you give 'em some sweets!

What would be really funny, is if all the kids bought those diabolical masks from Silver Shamrock and ended up with their heads burst open and all insects crawling out.

If that happened I would turn to whoever was nearby and beam, smiling, "Oh, I'm as PLEASED as PUNCH..."

At least, until all the insects and snakes started pounding at the door trying to get in. ;)
