About five years ago i had a disturbing experience and wondered if anyone else here had experienced anything similar.

Lying in bed asleep i was having an extremely vivid dream which ended in me being attacked in a lift (elevator) by four people who i knew weren't human (not sure if this is relevant by the way!). When this happened i woke within a split second and opened my eyes to see a man leaning over my bed looking down at me. I recall this chap had leathered looking skin drawn very tight across his face almonst skeletal. Needless to say i lashed out swinging a couple of punches his way and didn't connect with anything. Sitting fully upright i noticed my room (not all that large) had extended way back and a path seemed to stretch out in the distance lined with people with ol bony face standing by me reaching out his hand. It ended when i managed to turn the tv on to get some light in the room and everything returned to normal.

I appreciate all this sounds like bullshit but i can honestly say it did happen and i know i didn't dream it because for obvious reasons i didn't go back to sleep that night (or the next one if im truthful!)

Anyone else had anything like this?

Death has to have some laughs from time to time, looks like you were chosen for the comedy relief.

JK

You just had a vivid dream like you said...no more,no less.
Dreams are our way of working out the kinks that goes on in our daily life and Nightmares are the subconscious way of screaming at us to work it out NOW,or the body will start to breakdown and get sick with all that negative stuffing of emotions.
The mind-body connection is ignored all too often.

I had one where I was stabbed in the back by these weird shadow creatures and woke up thinking it actually happened. My back physically hurt for days afterwards as well.

I had another one where aliens came into my room and when I turned on the light,I really thought I would see them...it wasn't like a dream at all.Very weird.

Mac, could you have been sleep walking and by you turning the tv on , it had woken you up to the real world perhaps. I dont think your crazy, cause I have had some weird shit happen with dreams in the past.

When I was about 6yrs old, I used to have the same dream every few months about pirates coming to get me. Everything was always dark , you would hear a distant wind and rumbling of thunder and lightnin. To this day I still have this dream, not as often as I used to thank god, cause it really creeped me out. I wouldn't walk around the house on my own, or sleep in my own bed.
After being asleep for a while, I would wake up to see my room being 10 times the size it is. Everything would be so far away even tho it was so close to me. Im pretty sure that was just my eyes playing funky tricks on me.

Somtimes, something that scares you will sit in the back of your mind, and come up in dreams, so when you awake you think its all real. You may not have a knowledge of this fear, but its there.

doesnt matter if your afraid of the dark or not, darkness will play tricks on your eyes, specialy when your afraid, and when you have nightmares your afraid.

EDIT: and on the topic i have had something similar happen to me, woke up from a nightmare (i cant recall the dream.) and i couldnt breethe, when i open my eyes i saw a guy sitting on top of me with murder in his eyes strangeling me... i did make an attempt to reach for an axe i have hanging by my bed but i guess i was fumbeling.

I was at my grandmother's one night, staying over cause my parents wanted to go out or somethin. I was old enough to stay home alone, but I take every chance I get to go over there for a night, great fun. Anyway, Laying in my bed there, Im looking directly at the door if I leave it open, which I do. Before I went to sleep, I could have sworn something was looking at me from behind the door. I got up and checked. Nothing there, nothing that would make a shadow like it. So I went to sleep, ad had a full blown nightmare where [and Im not kidding] the bear from Bananas in Pajamas tried to kill me.

That is one of the more bizarre and scary images ive ever heard!

In relation to my experience i was defo awake. no doubt. Always had it pegged as some sort of hallucination triggered by the ol dark side of the brain synapses which are active when you sleep. Where's a neurology expert when u need one?

I have dreams all the time where I can hear everything that is happening (like my roomate on the phone) but I cannot open my eyes or breathe, and I have to fight to do either of these things....... sometimes I see crazy things or people talking to me who are not there .......but I always fight to open my eyes and eventually it happens

Just tell yourself that there's nothing in the dark more frightening than you are. In my experiences as a Witch, it's true.

Weird..same thing with ME, cept my dream is about a train and an old man. I've been deathly terrified of trains my entire life, and I used to have this dream constantly as a child it seems. I haven't had it as much since I've been an adult (that I know of), last time I can remember having it I was about 16...but for some reason for about the past month or so I haven't been able to sleep in my bed, and the dream has been on my mind ever since, so I think I had it and don't remember (thank Christ).

Anyways, I wake up in the middle of the night and see weird shit all the time...so much so it makes me panic. But I sit there and stare at it for a while, and wake up a lil bit, and realize that I was just still kinda sleeping, and all is giood.

I had a dream last night that I was having sex with the Devil. He's hot, but he's an evil bastard (duh). Anyway, he gave me two choices: I could resist and he could hurt me or I could accept.

D'you see the conundrum?

Seems to me that having sex with the Devil would hurt as well.

Im not afraid of the dark. Its what is lurking in the dark that scares me.

I have found that only one dream has woken me to screaming and crying. Since my mum hasn't been to well, I had one about her kinda running off, acting crazy and then just deterating in front of my eyes.
Really messed me up when I woke up.

Please dont be sorry.
I just have this fear of my mum dying, because we have both been through alot. Its the first dream I had ever had about her, and it was the worst one.

You know how most people wake up before they die in a dream? Well, I don't. If I have a dream where i die, I rarely wake before dying. But my dreams don't many any fucking sense anyways. A couple days ago, I had one where my dog jumped on top of the stove and stuck her paw into a pot while it was still boiling.

I always wonder "What if I'm missing out on something?"

I mean it CAN'T be as bad as some of the garbage I've seen lately...

Or...CAN it...?

I had a dream that i was in a tall building. Then a couple minutes later.

A gigantic astroid slammed into the ground,I'd say about 30 feet from the building. It killed everything on the planet.
