IGN Filmforce got a chance to talk to X-Men 3 co-writer Simon Kingerg and he discusses director Brett Ratner, Gambit and much more. Here's a clip on Ratner and Jean Grey:

Well, first and foremost, Brett starts from a love of the comics. He's got an immense respect for the X-Men universe. He's also got a lot of respect for Bryan's films, so he's not trying to create a radically different template. He's staying loyal to the tone of the first two films, but he's making this movie more visceral and emotional. Since we're dealing with one of the most intense storylines in X-Men history, he knows how important emotion is. And the actors have really responded to him. Wait till you see Famke Janssen in this film. She's going to blow your mind.

The X3 cast is ever-expanding with cameos from the X-MEN comics, and now XMF can exclusively reveal two more cameos that you’ll see on the big screen, come May 26th 2006! We back this statement with 100% confidence, and have seen visual proof, so there are no doubts.

SPOILERS (Highlight to read):

OMEGA RED and GAUNLET will be featured briefly in the film, in a scene that resembles the X-Men Evolution episode where the same two characters are chasing after the character, X23. Only this time…it’ll be Wolverine.

XMenFilms.net reports that they've learned who will play Multiple Man in X-Men 3:

The debut info of the MULTIPLE MAN appearing in X3 debuted on IGN Filmforce, but now XMF can exclusively reveal that Eric Dane (tv's Charmed) will be playing the character in X3! The actor had about 50 extra's for his duplicates, and his character is allied with the Brotherhood, but seems to be apart of Omega Red's faction.
TheXverse.com reports that Gambit won't appear in X-Men 3 afterall:

September 8, 2005
Today, Ralph Winter (one of the film's producers) confirmed to The Xverse that there is no appearance by Gambit in X-Men 3 -- but that it might be included in "the next one". This indicates that despite any possible plans to end the series with a trilogy, people involved with production are open to future X-sequels.

So it looks like their going to skip the Phonex saga and go straight to Dark Phonex. Sounds good to me.
Kinda mad that Gambit won't be in X3. Not sure how an Omega Red facton will work b/c I believe he is a solo villian.

there are a few pictures of the Worthington Labs which tells me we may see Angel! So a few pluses and minuses so far.

How about Colossus?? Is he going to be in it?? I hope for more then he was in X2. That was completely lame, he is one of the most powerfull Xmen, and he was treated like a second class citizen.

in the film colossus was still in his training from what i could gather, id like to see him make more of an impact on the film, id also like the see the more bad ass side of ice man in the upcoming films. a few others id like to see are qiucksilver, and bishop. some more sabertooth and night crawler would be nice.

I think the movie story line has Sabertooth dead after he fell on liberty island. I know Sabertooth can regenerate like Wolverene but I think the movie guys are ignoring that detail. Sucks I know, everyone I've talked to wanted the Wolverene Sabertooth reiverly to show up.

The rumoured Wolverine spin-off will hopefully go into the Sabretooth plot.

Im so psyched for this one....tons of rumours floating around, but supposedly, Cummings dropped out, so we wont be seeing anymore Nightcrawler:(. But word on the street is Beast on board, so I guess one awesome blue mutant is good enough, right?

X3 Trailer to Play with King Kong
Source: 20th Century Fox, Fefe LaBouffe October 17, 2005

20th Century Fox has revealed that the trailer for X-Men 3 will play in theaters with director Peter Jackson's "King Kong" on December 14th. Since "King Kong" is from a different studio (Universal), you might want to check with your theater first whether or not the "X3" trailer will be shown in front.

In related news, XMenFilms.net reports that they've learned who model Omahyra Mota is playing in the third installment:

We can now reveal that model, turned actress Omahyra Mota plays plays a mutant character in X3, who basically follows the character of Juggernaut around for most of the film. She was never in the initial script, but was an idea jumping around the heads of the production. Who's she playing? "An attractive mutant with the ability to exude pheromones"...STACY X.

Kelsey Grammer as Beast!?

Actually, the more I think of it, that seems pretty appropriate. I do hope that Colossus will get a little more screen time though. He was always one of my favorite X-Men, so it was a little disappointing to see him get the short end of the stick. I'm also glad that they've decided to film the Dark Phoenix storyline, one of the greatest stories in X-Men history. Let's hope it turns out well in the movie.

Kelsey Grammar is definitely a nice touch in the casting. Multiple Man and Jubilee are interesting ideas. I think Gambit's partially not being included because of Anna Paquin's choices as Rogue. The heat between her and Gambit needs to be from a more mature Rogue, and ignoring the interplay between the two characters would be a shame. I think they want to develop Rogue more before bringing him in. Not to mention it's kind of a tough casting call.

The trailer has been released but I dunno about you guys but it looks like the Terminator war is going on in the background.
I hope they don't change the story as much like they did in X2, you know change the Wolvrine story and slightly change Jean's story.

I think that the team should do what I think they should for the next spidy film (Spider-man 4) is get a new older cast, for X4, keep Hugh of course since he's not meant to age and DR. X aswell since he's such a great actor.

the "producers"felt he(Gambit)was to similar in character to Wolverine to be included.Vincent Cassel would make a great Gambit though.

Gambit like Wolverine? Uh...How? Aside from being a bit of a lone-wolf at times, he's NOTHING like Wolvie:confused:

the two x-men films thus far have established wolverine as a very different character from that of the comic, both physicaly and personality wise.it's Wolverine just different(for example in the comic Wolverine is short and hairy like robin williams)and while his demeanor has been preserved somewhat in the film he's been polished alot for the movie.he's basically the heavy, more like the leader.

Gambit's alot like Wolverine with the exception of claws and Logan's samari mentality.

I don't agree, I think that Gambit is a unique character. Personaly I can see the view of Gambit not being brought in b/c of Rogue, plus she's with Bobby (Iceman) now which is different from the comic but oh well. Now I agree that the X-Men movies have made Wolveriene to be the focus of the films, I mean the trend that their going in, I think that the X-Men movies should have been called Wolveriene and his Amazing Friends (joke on Spider-Man and his Amazinf Friends). But seriously, I never felt like the films were about the team.

I agree, the first was about Wolveriene and how unquie his powers are and then the second was was about his past - which ruined the film for me, could of been good but no they have to change the oirignal storyline for some reason and from the look of X3 it seems it's more about the team, not sure yet.

X3 will more than likely focus mainly on the whole Cyclops/Jean/Wolvie aspect. It has come into play before, however I can see it becoming more important with Jean's return as Phoenix.

Another thing- Do we know for certain weather she will return as Phoenix or Dark Phoenix? I hope they skip the whole "good" Phoenix bit and go straight to the fun stuff, Dark Phoenix. Cant wait to see how she looks, too. Should be very cool, either way.

I think its just Dark Phoenix, in the trailer she is walking along side Magneto and is wearing some kind burgendy cloths.

yea the brotherhood and th x-men join together to defeat Apocalypse that why i would like that story in x-men 4 for the brotherhood and x-men to join together to figh Apocalypse.

and then in x-men 5 to be bak against each other

I dont think Apocalypse would translate well to film. He's just so...hell, I cant even describe him. He's just...strange? HUGE? I dunno, but I dont think he'd be very good.

Thanks for the trailer by the way, Im off to watch it right now.

First off, the cartoon is its own thing, the movie is supposed to follow the COMIC BOOK not the cartoon. I thought that it was stupied how Colosses and Gambit were in the Brotherhood in the cartoon.

Second, I agree, an Apocalypse storyline would not work for the direction the movies are going. The movies are about Wolveriene, his relationship with the X-Men, the relationship between Xavier and Magneto, and the world's hatered for Mutants. Apocalypse has nothing to do with these aspects. Apocalypse is all about power and destorying the world, ect... Sentenals would make more sense, and they wouldn't have to be the huge robots that everyone knows, in fact the old school comic fans would love to see the original human size sentels first seen in X-Men (Uncanny) issue 14.

I think that it is b/c of these basic story lines that X3 is highly rummored to be the last. I've heard that Xaiver, Magneto, and Cyclops all die in X3, I will try to hunt down the source of this information but since the working title at the moment is
X3: Last Stand, its possible that they may end it here. It would be stupied to end the series b/c its doing really well, better than what had been expected.

The mutant of which you speak is simply called Angel, AKA Warren Worthington. Angel was one of the original X-Men, apearing in the very 1st issue in 1963. In the movie, he's being played by Ben Foster. Personally, Ive never been a fan of Angel, so Im not overly excited about him being in the movie, but you never know, I guess. He could be cool....

Psylocke Joins the X-Men 3 Villains
Source: The Hollywood Reporter December 29, 2005

The evil mutant assassin Psylocke has joined the lineup of X-Men 3, which 20th Century Fox will release on May 26, 2006.

The Hollywood Reporter says the character will be played by Filipina actress Mei Melancon, who previously worked with "X3" director Brett Ratner in Rush Hour 2.

Psylocke, who has had several incarnations in the Marvel comic book series, is best known for her fighting and telepathic skills as well as an ability to transport herself and others through shadows.

In the film, she will fight against the X-Men as a member of Magneto's (Ian McKellen) Brotherhood of Mutants.

Patrick Stewart on X-Men 3
Source: TrekWeb.com December 30, 2005

TrekWeb.com says UK's DreamWatch magazine has a new interview with Patrick Stewart in which he talks about X-Men 3. Here's a clip:

"The script, I believe, is the best script of the three." he said "It's very intense, it's very emotional, it's very personal about the individuals that we've already got to know in the first two movies. It has some astonishing set-piece sequences. It has a number of quite significant deaths. [From] what I've seen so far, I think, it's likely to be extraordinary. Some absolutely outstanding work is happening in Vancouver - including from some of the new people who've come onboard ranging from Kelsey Grammer to Vinnie Jones, who are now part of the X-MEN family, If anyone saw Brett's RED DRAGON, which I thought was an outstanding film, I don't think they have any reason to be nervous."

-----------------------------------------------------------------
He might be talking about the rumor I heard about Xavior, Magneto, and Cyclops dieing in X3.
