If you think running zombies are new thanks to "28 Days Later" and " Dawn of the Dead" ( 2004), then your wrong!
They have been around cinema since the early 80's starting with Umberto Lenzi's "Nightmare City" ( a.k.a. City of the Walking Dead), you know the one with the putty-diaherra-oatmeal faced zombies with machine guns? that's what really started fast zombies.
There was also "Lifeforce" ( Not much of a vampire movie but more of a zombie movie with alien beings), " The Return of the Living Dead", " The Stuff", "Zombi 3", "Dead Heat ( 1988)", "Return of the Living Dead 2", and "Return of the Living Dead 3" that also had early running zombies.
All movies that you must see to know the anchestors of today's zombie pics.

I don't think that many people have made it a point to say they're "new", as much as to say they're not traditional, so to speak.
Not to mention, aside from nightmare city which I haven't seen, the others are hardly an example of "quality" zombie films...but hey, just my opinion there.
I myself don't give a shit whether or not zombies run. If they're undead and still moving, it's not as though it's all logical in the first place.
Some of the zombies ran in a game I just played, and it still kicked ass, I believe that "zombie" movies depend on atmosphere, direction, score, good writing and camera work...not how fast a zombie can get itself around.
Those that let such a minor thing spoil the film for them, shouldn't.
It's like ditching your favourite chocolate bar on account of not liking the new wrapping...well, I guess that's something like the point I'm trying to make.
For the record, I maintain that 28DL was NOT a zombie movie by definition, and I thought it was great. Fuck any fanatics that can't deal with it.

This thread also isn't new.
I remember this whole thing from a couple months ago, when you made the same point and said the same things.
And you got the same reply then as Newb gave you now... so why do this whole thing again?

I personally never thought they were new they're just in the minority. I also liked 28 Days Later although it was slow and more a suspense film then a horror... and they weren't zombies.
