Yup, I've just started playing theough the Postal 2 expansion pack, "Apocalypse Weekend".
To begin with, at the end of the original P2...you shoot yourself in the head, unsuccessfully as it turns out.
I awaken in a hospital, and start making my way out...but what's this? they're experimenting on cats, as weapons?
Lil' cyclones of fur n claws?
Good stuff - you can even pick 'em up and use them as weapons...
So, as I continued on my way out, I rounded a corner, and BANG!
I'm in another world...it seems your head trauma has you suffering from really trippy kinda freakouts at various intervals throughout the game, in which you are faced with demonic Gary Coleman clones around every corner. The phasing realities can get a little confusing, but ultimately it's pretty cool.
All the old weapons are there, and some nice new additions, such as the above mentioned cyclonic kitties, a big ol' sledge hammer which you can either bust open heads with, or hurl at people, and my new personal favourite, the machete, which can slice and dice like a motherfucker, and (perhaps impossibly) be thrown like a boomerang, and caught on return.
I'm personally VERY impressed when it comes to mission structure and gameplay by comparison to the original POSTAL 2 game...there's a more coherent storyline, bigger, better levels, and missions that are actually worth doing - such as clearing out "mad cow tourrets zombies" from your local chinese takeaway joint, or "relocating" (splattering) mad cows...ok, so it sounds kinda stupid, I know, but it's a lot of fun. Oh, and the zombies, they not only LOOK great, but they are done correctly...you can cut off their arms, legs, and head....but unless you destroy the head, they WILL keep coming at you. Great fun.
Less of a chance to just wonder around "venting" like in P2, but it definately FEELS more like a "real game".
Yep, the guys at RWS have done all the fans postal 2 right with this one. I'd reccomend taking a look to anyone into gore, splatter, and really fucked up humour.
