Is it me or do 90% of horror movies with a PG-13 rating suck! Now I know there are exceptions, as in sixth sense. However, when Wes Craven starts putting out garbage like Red Eye, all I can say is wont Freddy Kreuger come and slash the shit out of one of these guys. Alright, so who agrees, either its R or its an Olsen twins movie.

I could care less about the rating. Look at the list in my sig. If sme of those films were released today, Id be surprised if they even got PG-13. Dracula, for instance....PG tops by todays standards.

yeah, this has been discussed before but if the movie's good and it affects you, why should it matter what the rating is? Sure, a lot of pg-13 movies suck... a lot of R movies suck. A lot of movies suck in general. if you think its shitty, don't see it.

I think it really depends on what sort of movie we're talking about here. If it's some slasher film that's been watered down to get that PG-13, then yes, it will (most likely) suck. On the other hand, if it's a quiet, cerebral ghost story (see "The Haunting") then there's simply no need to throw in a bunch of gore/nudity etc.

I agree that you should form your own opinion instead of paying attention to BS ratings in the first place. Believing this kind of crap is basically the same as having the MPAA tell you what your opinion is

i think you have a point. most of the pg-13 movies suck because the director is constantly censoring them selvs in order to get the pg-13 rateing and thust make more money in the box office. think watching dawn of the dead on tnt or something when you leaeve out crucial parts of a story you realy lose something. on the other hand sometimes you realy dont have to use elements that would get you an r rateing like poltergiuest great movie and its a pg there was no need for anything further.

I'm all for gore in any type of movie, but you're right.

For me, I like my horror gory. Any horror movie other than a ghost story needs to have an R or beyond for me to have interest. (Ghost stories can be done with PG-13, but I don't really care for that as a sub-genre anyways.)
Horror needs blood, guts, swearing and nudity in order to get my stamp of approval.

Point taken. I love Halloween. It's one of my top 10 horror.
Those are both R rated at least though, just not too gory. (Halloween due to budget, Shining because it didn't need it.)

Bah. I hate that kind of mentality, about as much as I hate the "blood, guts, swearing, and nudity are bad" mentality.

Then it's good thing I don't value your opinion very much.

I was wondering what type of response that'd get. That's probably the direction I woulda gone with it too.
