Uh, did you say the Texas Chainsaw Massacre was true and happened? Uh, I'm sorry but I really think you're smokin' something. Only because I got the DVD to TCM yesterday and watched it with the commentary of Daniel Pearl, Gunnar Hansen, and Tobe Hooper himself. They said that at the time of making the film, they all didn't know that name Ed Gein but Gunnar knew about hearing about Ed Gein's house and crap. But they all joked around on the DVD about how people believe so adamately that the TCM really happened in Texas. But it obviously didn't since they say that all the characters in the movie were made up. Gunnar even mentioned on the DVD that he heard a guy say that he was a prison guard and met the real Leatherface and it gave him a good laugh. It sounds really awesome to think it really happened but I don't think you got it quite right. No offense, of course. I could be wrong! I don't know. I'm just telling you what the creators said on the DVD. They're whole attitude when they talk about whether or not this event really happened is "Isn't that silly?". You can tell they made it up. But I could be wrong. You never know.
