Mortuary Cannibalism in New Guinea
Upon the death of an individual, the women were in charge of the dismemberment of the corpse. The women would remove the arms and feet, strip the limbs of muscle, remove the brains, and cut open the chest in order to remove internal organs. They would also feed human brains and various parts of organs to their children.
This still happening in the last 50 years. Recent studies revealed that almost all humans have genes designed to provide immunity to certain diseases which can only be transmitted by eating human brains.
My question is why? I want to hear some theories of a grisly, brain eating chapter in human history.
Maybe, we're supposed to be eating our dead and we have it totally wrong with this whole burial thing. Maybe kuru is a good thing. Like spiritual and junk. ;)

Well the indians used to take the spirit of the animal they killed into themselves an then gave thanks for the animals life so that they may live.
I wouldn't want anybody else's nasty ole dirty spirit in me though.

Your story reminded me of Ravenous. That's a kick ass movie.

I would never eat the brain... I mean, how are you going to capture someone's soul by eating their brain? I would go for the heart.

I'd imagine eating a heart would be gross... I could go for some brains though.

When Percy Shelley was cremated by his friends on the beach, supposedly, his heart remained long after everything else had turned to ashes, and required lots of extra special burning for a while before it was gone.

I think she was talking about the heart, since that's what It'sAlive was saying he'd rather eat instead of the brain in order to capture the person's soul.

I've eaten brains before...obviously, not HUMAN brains - Lamb as I recall...There's not much of a flavour to it, I only really tasted the seasonings. Yep, I'd tried to cook it myself.
It wasn't what I'd call BAD, but...there were texture issues.
For the record, it was very soft, and reminded me of fish eyes, and the white stuff that comes outta your lamb bones.
The texture was my only real problem.
I've also tried heart, sliced, and with the ventricle and fatty stuff removed, it's actually quite good...just like uh, concentrated steak?

That's the only PROVEN cause. I mean...it may have initially been due to exposure to dead/mutilated bodies? If it can be contracted via eating, one has to assume it could also potentially be inhaled at close range? I dunno....humans DO have a lot of killing in their past, throughout the ages.

Y'know what I think is gross, and I dunna care who disagrees with me, this is just the way I feel. GIBLETS. I think giblets in gravy or turkey stuffing is gross, I never liked it, and as soon as I detect one, it's like, "Uh-oh! Someone spoiled the food for me."
I know it's traditional and all, but fer god sakes people!!!! Use your common sense and stuff. Giblets is rubbery and gross and wacky!!
