At the end of Perfect Dark...A long time ago...I couldn't kill the last boss...BUT, since I had almost finished it anyway, I just quit the game and let it go...However, I obviously haven't forgotten it...

Evil Dead: Hail To The King...I couldn't kill THAT last boss either, but I played it with a Game Shark and finished it...I did NOT just wanna quit that one...

Now I'm playing Silent Hill 2 (when I can get time)...It's going pretty well...BUT...When I was checking the memory card, I noticed that Resident Evil: Code Veronica was still on there...So, I checked it out to figure out where and why I quit the game......It was that fucking thing in the cockpit of the airplane...I tried it again and again...Then I got Dustin to see if he could do it...Not a chance...And it's nowhere NEAR the end of the game...It REALLY pisses me off...But, I'm stuck there...Looks like I'm gonna have to let it go...It truly sucks...

So...This ever happen to any of you guys?...Ever have to quit a game because you were hopelessly stuck?

Spiderman 2, GTA San Andreas, Silent Hill....I eventually went back and finished 'em.

The longest wait was Silent Hill, stopped somewhere about 3/4 of the way in then came back to it like a year later.

Well I'm a game head(depending on the game anyway)so I've probably just forgotten some obscure little thing I did that other people(A.K.A. people with lives) wouldn't do.

Viewtiful Joe!!

Awesome game, and for the most part pretty easy....but I think there must be a skill I was supposed to buy or something, cause theres this one part where you're in the submarine, and you have to jump on the torpedo to be able to get to the next part. I can get on the torpedeo fine, but I cant jump high enough to get to the next part....

Yeah, a shitty control system can relly fuck up what might otherwise be a pretty good game. I can't remember any in particular, but there's DEFINATELY been a few cases of that.
I mean, they always have pre-selected control schemes available, but is it really tht hard to throw in the ability to fully customise your own? I hate that shit.

BR:
I remember code veronica. I personally thought it was one of the better res.evil games, never finished it, but I DID get through the Claire Redfield portion on disc 1, and a little of the Chris Redfield portion on disc 2.
Ok, so your on the plain, and you've just pushed something somewhere...I dunno, but if you've got the tyrant after you again,
you've done that already. You have to have conserved some heavy hitting ammo, grenade rounds or uzi's. Don't go near the back of the plain or he belts you outta it, as you've probably experienced.
Run around blasting him with everything you've got, and I think at some points he shows signs of damage, he either starts limping, bleeding, something like that, but you'll know. At that point you gotta run and hit a switch which is near a door, it empties some cargo onto him and he falls out.
You gotta do it fast or you'll either get killed or have to try again.

Yes, I've been stuck before...

Things like need for speed underground, and mainly racing games. My chick likes them, but y'know on occasion I'll play one of hers. I'm fairly decent at them, and may have success but for my low level of toleration, especially with game genres that are not my preferred ones.

Leisure Suit Larry (?) whichever the one was that you were on the island. I played right through the first one on my own steam, and enjoyed it greatly. However, this one on the island, I had to referr back to the manual SO fucking many times that it became a chore just to play the damn thing. Not to mention, the game was a fucking bore, and single handedly put me off playing any further LSL games. I really hope Sierras latest LSL game is as good as is looks, because I actually WANT to play this one.

Zombies Ate my Neighbours - Great game, but I got to a point where I ws being attacked by many, MANY sandworms in one particular stage, andm well, the game was already 3 days overdue at the video shop, so yeah, didn't get past that point. I have it on emulator, one day I'll beat it.

"Carrier" On Dreamcast, not many people will know this game, but anyway...it was a little like resident evil, the storyline was somewhere between "virus" and "event horizon". It's actually a very good game, however, I did get to one scene that you had to activate a few levers and computer type things, while avoiding almost constant attack from these bug things that electrocute you. I ggave it about 5 tries, then said "fuck it". Good game though..

Not sure of the name, but there was a game released on both dreamcast and playstation 2, where you played as a bounty hunter? (?HEADHUNTER?), one particular stage with timed explosives, and you having to race around on your motorcycle between places, stay alive while getting shot at, and THEN disable bombs, all on timer. I got to one point that I was familiar with the routes between these places, and I actually got to the last bomb, then got shot. This was after about 10 tries...really pissed me off.
Notwithstanding, I was actually very impressed by the overall game, good storyline, graphics, and some very inspored boss fights. Good stuff, but they HAD to throw in a stage to piss me off. I probably COULD have done it, buy, my tolerance usually runs short after 5-6 tries.

Blackthorne (sega) - I never got very far into it...I was hoping for a game as good as the similarly styled "flashback", but I don't think it was...a good attempt all the same. I dunno what happened really, I got to the second stage, and then it just all looked the same, I didn't know where to go, so gave it up a little short. I have it on a 32x emulator actually, I might give it another attempt.

Shade: Wrath of Angels - First of all, I really REALLY liked this game. Excellent horror/ghost/mystery theme, great graphics, and some interesting mindfucks, not to mention, it actually had a coherent storyline. It was scary, had a good combat system, and some funny dialogue. This is my kinda game through and through. Only problem, I got to the third stage (for anyone that knows, the one where the skelatons pull themselves off the pikes upon which they lay, and attack you at the beggining), and couldn't find my way out. Tried again and again and again, nothing revealed itself. Very dissapointing, 'cos I was really enjoying it.

Nosferatu: The wrath of Malakai - I was makin good progress, rescued a lot of people...but, the castle is randomly loaded every time you play, it's different. VERY nice atmosphere, nd some really interesting graphics. Scary game, very panicky at stages, the weapons, and the enemies, all great...but, essentially I just could NOT find my way around after rescuing about 5 people...hugely frustrating. I think I actually threw the cd at the wall and smashed it after a while.

Crash Bash (ps1) - VERY fun party game, but I think it does reach a point where it gets "ASSHOLE" level hard.

Also, I have never finished a warcraft game, at all. I DO occasionally replay WC2, and make progress little by little, but towards the final 1/3 of the game, it DOES become a pretty time consuming process, and I refuse to cheat, so yeah...maybe one day I'll finish it.

That's all I can really remember just now. I'm sure there's been more.
Generally, first person shooters/adventure games will NOT get the better of me, I finish those more than any other...I think it's just about your preferred genre, yknow? You get good at what you like...it also depends on what style of gamer you are, if you're a lateral thinker, if you're more about quick reflexes, that kinda thing. I don't think there's a person in the world that has been "good" at, and/or finished every single game they've encountered.

- B.

Yeah...I'm OBVIOUSLY not fast enough, because I have tons of ALL kinds of grenade rounds, but I can't hurt him enough......I'm really into the thinking/problem solving/finding and gathering items/completing puzzle type parts...I'm not very good at the battles...

You mentioned Sega...That reminded me of something else...

Gargoyles for Sega Genesis...I never finished it because I would get SO far...Then I would die...Well, you always had to start over ALL the way from the beginning......It became ridiculously monotonous...I had to give it up...

The same thing happened with The Simpsons' game (with the mutants) for the original Nintendo system...Got just past the Carnival part...Too damned far to have to keep starting over from the beginning...

Oh Yeah...Pacman World for Playstation, too....Couldn't get past the Carnival part in THAT one, either......Sucks

That game made me nauseous. So boring too, not enough things to shoot. If I have a shotgun I want to be able to use it. ;)

Whenever my brothers got that for the N64 I would laugh at them in the back of my mind because of the mass death from the suckage of the control scheme
