View Full Version : The Apocalypse

There are so many theories about how the world is going to end...People base these theories on many things...Some are biblical, some are environmental, some are based on human hostility, some are geological, etcetera...

BUT...One way or another, pretty much all of us have imagined an end, and perhaps considered what would eventually cause it...

So...How do you guys think the world is going to end?

Does anyone think that the world is NOT going to end, and that it's all bullshit?.....Or perhaps human extinction occurs, but the planet and everything else on it remains...

Thoughts?

After seeing what happened down in the gulf coast, i would say environmental. We can be reduced to animals in just a few short days.

I just thought of another question...

Do you think it will happen in our lifetime?...Or maybe in a hundred years?...A thousand?

The world will end in 3000something
Because Nostradamus and H.G.Wells said so.
and I believe them 100%.

But most likely, this planet will evolve to the point where we can ship our spawn all over the galaxy before the Sun goes supernova.

It won't "end", but I could definitely see it being sent back to the dark ages. WW3 will be a nuclear war. I imagine that most of the globe would suffer astronomical casualties but there would be people in rural or otherwise secluded pockets of existence that survive.

Here's a mind fucker...

What if a civilization just like ours has already existed once or twice (Or more) on this planet? It could have been millions of years ago and they could have been every bit as advanced as us (maybe even more so.). They could have had the same problems with coexistence that we do and they could have obliterated their entire race with a nuclear war (or something of the sort. There's no telling whether they'd have invented nuclear weapons or not, but just for the sake of this story, they did.) So this civilization ends up destroying itself with it's own weapons... I'm talking eradicated, nothing left.

Evolution would go back to square one, and we'd climb out of the proverbial ooze as cavemen, never even knowing the prior civilaztion existed.

And before you say that we would have found remnants from them, try to remember this is before dinosaurs, cavemen, or time as we know it. And also, they were completely eradicated.

We'd never know. The same thing could happen to us. We destroy the world and everything in it and then evolution starts back at square one wth some other dude climbing out of the sludge.

You believe Nostradamus 100%?

Even though 75% of his predictions never come to pass and the ones that do are so incredibly vague that anyone could predict them?

Sooner rather than later.

If not in our lifetime, then in the next generations.

I believe that anything I believe is pointless,because the more I learn,the longer I live-I realize I know nothing,and probably never will.

Yeah,I know alot of people like you:eek:

I think the world is a bit tougher than we think...in the 80's we were brainwashed with Nuclear(sp?)war and pollution and extinction and we are all gonna die in 20 years!
I think we will survive the toxic meltdown the world suffers from.I think we will get better, stronger and smarter.
I think every living thing has a time to end-including our pretty blue marble.

Is it just me or do these two statements contradict each other?

How could we survive the meltdown if our blue marble doesn't?

Oh trust me. They are under your car seat and it will rain. (Just go look. That's where they are.)

You may want to reconsider your career as a career counselor.

I meant the meltdown we are experiencing right now.
Not in the sense of a nuclear meltdown

Call me an optimist but I don't believe humanity will ever really end. That doesn't mean that we may not end up living in our own filth and decay but by the time that happens we'll have found a way to rationalize it so that it seems as if all is right with the world. I don't think thats going to happen though. I know things look pretty bad right now but the world has been progressively getting better since the first human stood up and started to manipulate the world around him. There have been setbacks and dark ages but slowly things get better and people become more tolerant, healthy, and fulfilled. The "apocalypse" we're all waiting for just serves as an excuse for us not to think about the wellbeing of future generations. Personally I hope there is some kind of rapture thing so all the fundamentalist Christians can go be with god and stop dragging the rest of us back into the slime.

Well America's gonna blow up within the next 30 to 40 years, but in terms of the WORLD, I think it won't be in out lifetime or our children's lifetime... but THEIR kids are doomed.

Want me to do a Tarot reading about it? hahahahaha:D Sorry to all you naysayers. I was kidding.

Anyway, as a Pagan, I believe 100% that escatological stories are just that. Humanity can be wiped out easily, however we don't completely have the power to destroy the world. So, given that, I think the Earth's core will go cold (if it hasn't already and we just don't know it yet) or the sun will finally die. By this time evolution will have taken such crazy turns that the idea of a "primate" will no longer be considered vogue.

Ever read 1984? Im not even close to all the way through it...but it's such a great book.

The theory that all memory of *this* time period will be lost, and we'll all kind of be war-loving drones interests me. There will be a general discontent, but no one will remember why. I'm not sure "humanity" will ever end, but we with the way the world is heading, we'll become less than human.

Well to believe this theory you'd have to first believe the theory of evolution and if you believe that ridiculous concept than this one shouldn't be that much of a mind fuck.

Evolution isn't really a theory any more, is it? We know it occurs all the time.

Anyways, it's just an interesting concept that may have never occured to some folks. It's just food for thought...
