I went to Shriekfest in LA this year - it was great, well organized and cool films. Also, since its in LA lots of industry folks milling around.
They've done five of them and they've all gotten good reports from my friends in LA. And, I enjoyed the one I attended very mcuh.

The New York City Horror Film Festival is the largest, most attended (industry and fans) and well organized genre festival in the USA. 2006 submissions start Jan 1st.

Will Rahmer from the band Mortician goes to the New York Horror Convention and usually walks away with about 10 to 20 different horror movies. I think he has something like 500 to 700 movies, both on VHS and DVD. I can't imagine where he stores that many movies. :)

If I may be so bold as to give our fest a plug.... :)

The Eerie Horror Film Festival and Screenplay Competition is going into it's 3rd year and the fans, filmmakers and celebrity guests have given us the thumbs up, so I guess we're doing something right.

There's a lot of Fests out there, Shriek Fest I hear good things about as well as the New York fest.. do a Google search for "Horror"+"Film Festivals"... you'll find plenty.

I think there is a big one in Chicago every year but I forgot what it's called...

Horrorfind Weekend or something like that.
