It has the best line from Freddy..."wanna get high?",he was just naughty in this one, almost funny in the way he enjoyed torturing these poor crazy kids.

Their both two of the strongest entries in the series. Part 3 did have a good sense of humour but it was Freddy's demise into in becomming a comical parody of the menacing character of the first two films. I'd say Wes Craven's New Nightmare because it saw Freddy's return to being the dark menacing character he once was...... must remember to watch it again sometime soon.

...I was gonna say Dream Warriors because it was funny as hell, but you brought up a very good point...So, I'd say A new Nightmare...

I think New Nightmare was better. I did get some laughs out of a few of Freddy's one-liners in Dream Warriors, but I just think he works better as the more threatening figure of New Nightmare.

I agree that New Nightmare is the better film; I like them both quite a bit. In fact, other than the first one of course, I think they are both by far the best of the series. But New Nightmare has my vote, because I agree with your point, it took Freddy back to a place, characterwise, he should have remained.

New Nightmare also skewers the film industry ten ways to Sunday. I thought it was just an insanely funny parody, in addition to being crazy scary.

I voted for Dream Warriors also, but you guys are really making some good points about New Nightmare (that pic Robert Englund was painting...brrr). You know, because of the content...Craven could have just skipped all of the other films from 3 and gone right into New Nightmare. The are a lot of lines between the two, not the least of which is Heather Langencamp/Nancy.

New Nightmare was not in 3-D. Freddy's Dead was.

The first one will always be the best of course...But, Dream Warriors is my favirite of the sequels...I'm really not sure why.....
I would have picked New Nightmare right after those two, so you gave the best choices in my opinion...
About the 3D thing...The third installment of ANY series of sequels is almost always the one that's done in 3D....So, why wasn't Dream Warriors?

That would've been cool. F13 Part 3 was pretty cool in 3D the spear/arrow (whatever) looked rad stickin outta that guys eye.
The end of Freddy's Dead was pretty cool in 3D but nothing too amazing. I've got the movie magazine with 3D pics in it but I've lost my glasses :(

Wow people actually agrreeing with me on here  that's gotta be a first :p
But yeh Freddy is a real cool character in New Nightmare + he looks a lot more sinister than he did in the previous sequels....
I've been slowly getting my way thru the TV series recently. Kinda a Tales From The Crypt rip off with Freddy instead of the Cryptkeeper. There's some pretty cool episodes but its pretty fuckin' cheesey.

Yeah, it scared us as well.... :p
I love Freddy's look in New Nightmare, I actually meant to mention that before and forgot.
And I can't find the television series anywhere. I have been wanting to check it out for ages. I just know once I finally get my hands on it, I am going to be disappointed.

As far as I'm concerned, as long as you avoid the one's with "Freddy" in the title (2 and 6), they're all awesome. Dream Warriors has a good story and Heather's back. Dream Master was the most stylish, and the fight Alice has with Freddy at the end is damn cool. Dream Child... yeah, Freddy turned into a lame comedian, but those backstory flashbacks of his mom being attacked by 100 maniacs are beautifully creepy. Both of Wes Craven's... what can you say, perfect bookends... easily the smartest two in the series.

The third wasn't as dark, but I think it was pretty damn solid, and is my favourite aside from the first. Good characters, the death of one heroine, the "birth" of another...
...He also started in with the comedy at this point...look, I don't hate it, but it got little excessive throughout the latter end of the series, I DO think the more sinister Freddy made the first two films.
New Nightmare...I thought it was interesting, but they could have done it much better. Freddy was a little more like his old sinister self in this one, which was good. Some interesting kills, and overall, an alright storyline too. It did, however, drag on a little, and I thought the ending was rather anticlimatic...but overall, a nice effort to explore the frnchise from a different perspective.
Same deal, no more to say.

Yep, you're guaranteed to be dissapointed with the series. Its total trash with a few moments of campy greatness. Its a great visit back to 1980s late night TV.
I picked most of the series up on VHS because they were cheap 2nd hand. There is a DVD out I think but I've heard the transfer is pretty shoddy compared to the VHS versions. But yeh its not really worth spending a hell of a lot of money to track down but if you can score it cheap.....

I really liked them...For me, it's just a chance to see more Freddy, which I appreciated......I guess it just depends on how much of a Freddy fan you are :)
