Saw this poll on another site I post at and thought it deserved a thread here. Personally I like 70's/80's the best, but 2003 has been a good year for the Horror Genre.

To be honest, every decade is even to me.

The classics are...well...classics. You have to love them. Night Of The Living Dead has become one of my favorite movies.

The 70's and 80's were great as well. My two favorite horror movies were from the 70's and 80's, so that's saying something.

The modern decade introduced a lot of great slasher flicks. Some great teen slaughter flicks to come out then. I liked this decade.

And then there is the new millenium. A lot of great movies have been made in just three years: Jeepers Creepers, Freddy Vs. Jason, Wrong Turn, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)... it's gonna be a great decade indeed.

If someone were to put a gun to my head asking me to choose, I'd probably pick the classics. Nothing beats the start of it all.

Good thread, by the way.

Going to say the 80's cuz I grew up in that era and those are the films that got me into horror.

80's are the best cause IMO they set the standard for horror movies.

I have to vote the classics cause those were the first ones I ever saw. Does anyone remember Son of Svengoolie?? I dont know if it was a Chicago show or not, but I remember growing up on the farm and getting WFLD TV on late at night to watch this show. They always had on the classics. Once they had on Creature from the Black Lagoon in 3D. You had to wear those goofy glasses, gave me a headache, but those movies were great. Kudos about the 80s flicks though when I was a teenager I remeber trying to sneak into theaters to see R rated movies.

im gonna go with modern because of the technolody they have today the kills look realer and they kan make things like sharks and dolls look as if they were really alive

It's impossible to answer a poll like this because there's something from every decade that's great.

Those would basically fall under the "classics" label.

There is no doubt in my mind that the 70/80's were the golden age for the horror genre. We had great movies scare us shitless and great horror writers and directors come along like Stephen King, James Herbert, Wes Craven and Sean Cunningham.
The 90's was an insult to horror movies just look at piss-takes like Scary Movie 1,2,3.
But the new century is looking up I've seen a load of savage horror movies like 28 Days Later, Texas Chainsaw '03 and Dog Soldiers.

I was reading a review of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre in the paper the other day that said "HORROR MOVIES ARE BACK!" Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
