View Full Version : A Thread For Coffee.

Kind of like Tony Roma's is "A Place For Ribs." It's good that they have that sign because every time I drive by I think, "Ahhh...it's a place for ribs, now I know." They don't want to just say "RIBS," they want you to know that it's a PLACE for ribs. Like when you sit down, you can say, "I really feel that this PLACE is INTENDED for ribs." And in just that way, this is a thread for coffee.

Here in this magical realm, you can sit down and discuss coffee with other coffee-loving horror fans, or just sit and listen while enjoying a nice hot cup. That's the DISPENSE button on the left. Press it to enjoy your piping hot yummy COFFEE.

I am having Nescafe right now and it is a marvelous instant coffee, almost, ALMOST tastes like fresh brewed.

There is this place up the street from me that makes very good coffee. And their best thing is the Iced Latte, specially on a hot summer day. It tastes subtly sweet, but they tell me there's no sugar in there. Just coffee and milk and ice. It's so yommy!

In terms of instant coffee, my preferred brand is Moccona, out of their varieties, I like one called "Mystique".
http://www.especiallyoffice.com/webalogue/en-gb/dept_623.html
Those are their varieties. It's a good brand...I find that many cheper substitutes just taste shitty and generic. If it's gonna be instant, I like it to be as good as it's gonna get.

If I feel like real coffee, I will order it ground for my espresso machine. My favourite is blend of italian espresso, french vanilla and caramel infused. I will also sometimes add chopped cinnamon quills.

I have coffee almost everyday...When I'm home it's all instant stuff, most aint that bad..But where I work just moved, and now we have a kickass machine. It grinds the beans, and brews and mixes right there, good shit. Make's a kick ass French vanilla latte.
MY FAVORITE is the white chocolate mocha from Gloria Jeans.

quote from Moconna Coffee website:

"Moccona Temptation is soft and full-bodied with great depth and an intense lingering finish. Dark-roast Arabica beans are blended with a hint of premium Robusta to produce smooth caramel notes that provide a velvety mouth-feel and avoid bitterness. Let yourself be tempted."

A lady from Puerto Rico once made me some "spanish coffee"
I had 3 sips and didn't sleep for 4 days.
It was good,smooth-rich and had a sharpness I can't quite define.

From what I hear,Americans brew their beans too weak.
Someday-I will go to Italy and drink coffee
And france-to drink....coffee
I wonder what Austrailian beans taste like?
One day I will know

filmmaker2

Well, major chains of any type...Starbucks etc. ...seem to brew theirs pretty weak. "I want a cup of coffee, not a cup of water with nuances of coffee essence!" Starbucks has their weird obsession with making sure their coffee has lots of WATER in it. Hmm, I guess that's a good way of making MONEY offa ya.

"Barista? What the heck is a fuckin' barista???"

Caffeine or Cocaine?

Caffeine also increases dopamine levels in the same way that amphetamines do (heroine and cocaine also manipulate dopamine levels by slowing down the rate of dopamine re-uptake). Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that, in certain parts of the brain, activates the pleasure center. Obviously, caffeine's effect is much lower than heroin's, but it is the same mechanism. It is suspected that the dopamine connection contributes to caffeine addiction.

I had a friend that used to do the same thing with his instant at work...really meticulously stirring for at least 2-3 minutes, claiming it improved the flavour. After observing this about twenty times, I said "yknow what's even better? REAL coffee. You're drinking nescafe, you idiot...it doesn't really GET that much better".
The lesson is, of course - if you want your INSTANT to taste better, get better instant.
I have an espresso machine, but I know there's instant out there that doesn't require special preparation methods to taste great, I buy it...and look at the cauldron stirrers, rightfully so, like they're nuts;)

I never made my coffee like that....but, I do have a cousin who, the last time I saw her make coffee for herself, did something perhaps similar...she poured out a glass of milk, then put a good teaspoon of instant coffee into the milk. That was it, just coffee and whole milk.

And she would then stir and stir and stir and stir and stir and stir, and eventually the milk would attain that lovely golden yellow brown kind of tint to it.

It was the weirdest thing..."Why's she doing it like that?" I asked, and someone said "That's the way she makes it" and I thought Hmmm, well okay.

But I tried it later and you know, it's really a very nice way to take your coffee. Ice-cold and decidedly creamy (considering there's no water in it besides the water that's in the milk).

One minor detail that adds to the sheer awesomeness of Pulp Fiction: The Wolf orders his coffee with a lot of cream and sugar. It always seems like in movies these "guy" type tough guys, whenever they get coffee they get it black. And here's The Wolf, who's just fucking badass, getting it with a lot of cream and sugar. Tell me he doesn't get his steak rare and I'd have to give him a long sloppy blowjob
