Why fish are assholes...

So me and my roommates bought a giant fishtank for 500 bucks. We bought all the little stones and fake leaves, filters and blah blah blah... ran up to around 800 bucks for it all.

So then we had to buy fish. We got a catfish, a knifefish, an algae eater and a Tiger oscar. The tank gets filled, we toss the fish in... and the first thing they do is fight. I mean FIGHT! They were supposed to get along (thats what the clerk at PetLand said), but they were ripping each other apart. The tiger oscar killed the algae eater, then killed the knifefish. The catfish fought for a while, but I guess they got tired so they stopped.

And I realized... Fish SUCK. Like, they suck hard. You can't pet em', they eat a lot, they do whatever they want and they fight just for the hell of it.

So... here's my point. We're tired of the threads talking about unity on this thread, who wants to hear that anymore right? There's a lot of different people here, we're not ALL gonna get along. But that's NO reason to say this site is falling apart. I'm not saying we have to get along, I'm not saying we need a clean slate. This is still a great site and there's still a lot of great people here.

And shit... at least we're not fish.

You can't put anything in a tank with an Oscar. They are meat
eaters. A friend of mine used to feed his Oscar hamburger meat from the mess hall. When we left to go to Egypt for for a few weeks he had to get rid of it. No one would be around to feed it ,so he gave it to the Pet Store.
When we got back, he went to the pet store to see if Oscar was still there. He had been sold but not before jumping into an ajoining tank and eating every fish in it.

The catfish were probably just playing...I don't know much about the others, but catfish "play" and it looks kinda like theyre fighting...

haha, well that wasn't quite the point of the thread, but...

Well the knifefish was only 20 bucks, the algae eater was 15, and the catfish is still alive so... its all good. We'll just get tougher fish next time.:D

Thanks for making me open my eyes, and thanks for being one of the only people on this site with patience, therefore keeping us who might not have it from "killing" each other.

You know what? Screw the fish. Just fill the tank with some tinted water, like teal, blue green...and then have the bubbles and the plastic plants, and leave it at that. It'll look neat and require far less upkeep. Maybe some plastic fish would be okay, like a small plastic shark or turtle. And come to think of it a plastic snake or alligator would also work.

You know what else would be cool? If everyone on HDC replaced themselves with plastic mannequins, like department store dummies...just pose them at the computer. It would save on typing and if everybody did it then the page could stay the same; it would never have to change because no one would be typing because we would all be mannequins.

Y'know, that's just how things work sometimes. People are gonna come and go on this site, and the rest of us just gotta go with the punches. Babygurl and Urge were great members and it sucks that they're leaving, but there's still a crapton of great folks here and we can't forget that.

So i for one am gonna be as jolly and drunk as can be.

I mean HAPPY... not drunk.
