Well firstly I better say HI to all you prestigous members as I am new here. But I did want to share my thoughts and would like to know what you think.
I think horror in general has become to commercialised the problem I see it is that horror directors are making films for one reason only and that is to make lots of money, the problem with that is horror movies are not made for the fans anymore they are made for the average person to sit enjoy and get a shock.
There is just not enough new ideas or creative thinking going about, which leaves the horror fans searching through their archives remebering the good old horror films.
This is why i was excited about Rob Zombies 'House of 1000 Corpses', Whether the film is good or not (I cannot say as I have not seen it yet so if anyone knows of a release date for the UK let me know) this was a horror film made for horror fans and it was trying to be a bit different whether he succeeded or not does not matter to me it inspires me with confindece that maybe more films like this will come out.
The same with Blair Witch Project another daring and new idea (personally I did not like the movie) but what happened the next week there was a teen slasher movie out.
Personally for me for horror to continue it needs someone to be a bit more daring a bit more controversial, I think it would be great for all us to get together and make a film ourselves (but that will realissticly never happen).
I do not know if you agree but they are just my thoughts and let me pose you a question name 5 films which have been released in the last 3 years which you think are classic horror films what left their mark on you. I bet you struggle.
Anyway Hi all (sorry bout the length of the post i will shut up now)
