I feel so torn. I have to start seriously considering a major now or so I'm told...I'm sure I'll never really make up my mind until I finish my academics and since none of my friends EVER have advice I figured I'd tell my delima to the general public...and judging from some of the threads I've read in the past I could have chosen a much more forging audiance >.>;;.
Anyway, I'm stuck between wanting to work in forensics (make a nice living in a job I find interesting) or try my hand at film making (pursue a dream that'll probably leave me broke and living in a studio apartment with a subway performer named Phil). Either way I don't plan on retiring from K Mart.

From my experience, you don't need to choose a major until after your sophomore year in college....focus on getting the general ed. requirements out of the way first :)
I switched majors about 4 times b/c it wasn't until almost the end of my junior year that I figured out what I really wanted to do :)
If you're interested in two different things...I'd either try to do a double major or minor in something...you may want to major in forensics but minor in film. I majored in Psychology and minored in English Lit b/c I wanted to be a counselor, but I also loved English.
Furthermore...speak to an academic advisor at your school; they're your best resource, believe me.
Also...always remember...the important thing is that no matter what you major in, you're going to have a degree..that alone will open plenty of doors for you...so try not to stress too much :)
If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me....hope this helped a bit. :)

you need to figure it out. if your major is in the social sciences, you can fuck around. but once you get into anything dealing with physical/biological sciences, your breadth (GED) requirements can greatly differ. for example, being a criminal justice major, i can take any math i want to so long as its college level (anything above 100). but if i were bio, or physics, theyd probably want something in at least the 200s. yeh, math IS ged, but if im gona get the math credits anyway i may as well fit BOTH requirements.
So, if you getting into forensics, thats exactly where your headed - a bio or chem degree, most likely. So figure it out. doesnt necessarily mean that its set in stone, but if you pick that degree, the counselor can tell you what you need to take, and you're better off taking more upper level courses that will count than to take lower ones that may NOT.
see?
