Yesterday I took my lady and family to the Rock and Rods car show in Pontiac. We drive by the 4H club and they have some pretty nice looking rides in the show, although they mostly look like trailer queens or cars that sit in your living room and are buffed with a diaper.
We are in my 49 chevy, its a ratrod, built for cruising and being a public nuisance. It isnt show quality but its nicer than most that I have seen.
Anyway kids are crashed out in the back sleeping. We pull up to the gate and attendant waves us in and stops us. Asks how many in your party? I say 4. Guy tells me 48 bucks. I said I am not showing this car I am just here to look around. No the 48 bucks is to get in. 12 bucks a person.
Well after the gravel dust had settled and the noise of my lakewood pipes was gone I think he got the message that I wasnt paying 48 bucks to walk around and see a bunch of rides that I could see at the local drive-in on Sat. night for free.
Has anyone else noticed that the cost of things is getting a little ridiculous????
Gas 2.40 a gal. dont ask what high octane gas is.
movie tickets- 10.50.
a bag of M&Ms 89 cents
a large soda at McDonalds 1.49.
the rich get richer and the poor stay poor.
Guess i had to vent.

Vent all you want, Creeper. I've noticed things at the grocery store. You go in with the intent to buy a few essentials and walk out having paid 50 bucks or more. You go to theatre and it's forty bucks just for a matinee. Gas prices are ridiculous. People are so damned dishonest. You get them to work on something...house, car, bike, etc, and they charge you more than what they deserve or usually charge. It's rampant.

I hardly bother shopping, or going anywhere anymore. I don't even make enough for my billls, and the times I put off to actually get some things, I can't afford anything I want. This shit it crazy.

ach... i wish it was that cheap here in norway... its part of a system, taxes and skyhigh prices are there to weaken individuals and strenghten the corporations and the goverment, that way it can be done inperceptabley over time.

I've noticed this too. I had this grand idea that if I had a college degree, I'd never have to worry about money-b/c I'd be making plenty of it. I was in for a rude awakening for sure ;) Even with one, looking at the cost of things scares the hell out of me. Of course it helps, but it definately doesn't guarentee that I'll be "set for life" like I thought when I was a bit younger.
I thought I'd be really excited to get out into the "real world", but most of the time I'm just worried it's going to take forever to be able to afford my own home, etc.
The middle class in this country is slowly fading away, such that it's turning into a country where you're either poor or rich...not much middle ground left. It's definately harder to keep your head above water now, and feel like you can live a comfortable "middle-class" lifestyle.
Just about everybody I know is struggling, even with good paying steady jobs. It's really sad, and while I hope the state of things in this country will improve, I'm starting to lose faith.

Great synopsis, but it's not just in Norway. It's everywhere.

Dont get me started on people being dishonest.
The scumbags I work with are charging people hundreds even thousands of dollars to repair their autos and then not doing the work they claim to be doing.
I have been fixing cars for nearly 20 years and have seen this often in the industry but never to this extent.
And then when you call them on thier dishonesty they look at you like your having some kind of psychotic episode.
I have never NEVER been dishonest with people when it comes to thier autos. A reputation like that follows you. I can make enough money doing honest work.
Last week I told my boss that this asshole is getting paid for doing a job and not doing it. Thats going to hurt me in the long run when people get wise to the shit that these guys are doing and dont come back anymore.
The guy asked me why I was trying to get him in trouble. "Hello, your ripping people off!!!!" he tells me its my style to be a snitch. I said Yea its my style to be a snitch and its your style to be a thief. So this Libra is just trying to keep the balance. Just doing the devils work.
Fuckers this is what I hate about society. This guy rips this one off so he has to charge more money to this company to pay his bills and then that company has to charge more money for the products they sell to pay for the services that they didnt get in the first place.
Its all a big vicious circle and I really am getting a little sick of it.

Car sales persons are the worst. They have to be the most dishonest people in the world. I'm a good salesperson, however, I could never be a car sales person. I have integrity.

In America everything dealing with our vehicles are fucking expensive. Gas, repairs, the price, etc... The government knows that americans love vehicles and unfortunately we will pay the price. I have a gas guzzler so I bitch about the price of gas all the time.
I however won`t pay over 20 bucks for a DVD unless it is something I absolutely can`t get anywhere else. I save a lot of money by ordering stuff online. I also don`t buy expensive clothes unless it is necessary. :-D
So yeah gas is what I bitch about because I stay in my vehicle all the time.

But I am guessing you guys dont use vehicles as much as Americans do.
considering I know a lot of people who travels 100 miles per day to go to work.
It is still taking a huge chunk out of our pockets.

quite the opposite... public transport such as trains etc cost so much to use, many will resort to using their cars for work, even if the running cost is high.... why pay loads to sit in a stinking train when you can pay loads and sit in the comfort of your own car.
We have conjestion charging now in londonto try to reduce traffic.

1 liter of gas: 1.9 bucks
20 pack of cigs: 10 bucks

Gas is going up because some caribou pissed on a pipeline in Moosesnout, Alaska. At least thats the excuse the oil companies are giving us this week.
Meanwhile they all rake in record profits.
And I have no problem with a company making a profit, but to what extent are "We the People" going to allow them to ruin our economy??
There should be NO TAXES on motor fuels if you are using your vehicle for work.
Oh and now for todays "Creepers civics lesson" One third of government is waste and corruption. Democrat or Republican they are all crooks.

Well, yeah dude. American Eagle and Hollister are the hip places to go for young teens these days... shit, Hollister is basically Abercrombie's retarded cousin.
Although I'm one to talk, I get all my shit from Urban Outfitters and Buckle... that shit's expensive as hell too.

Well I hate Hollister, their shit all looks like it's supposed to be broken... holes and paint all over jeans and shit, why is dirty the new cool?
As for AE, I just don't like wearing shit that says AMERICAN EAGLE all over the fuckin' front of it... no corporate logos on my shirts, that's my rule.

Time for Creepers lesson.
Everybody wants to hang the oil companies for the high price of fuel.
THis should make you think.
Federal motor fuel tax-18.4 cents per gallon
Average state motor fuel tax-21.2 cents per gallon
11 states nationwide levy additional state sales and other taxes.
Plus you can also add local county and city taxes which vary by area.
Average profit per gallon for the fuel company- 7.3 cents per gallon.
OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH those evil oil companies.
Seems we are barking up the wrong tree folks. When was the last time you heard a politcian say anything about eliminating the fuel tax.
You wont.
All I hear is a bunch of dopes demonizing the oil companies when they should be the ones who are demonized.
FU Chuck Schumer and Dick Durbin. The dishonorable senators from New York and Illinois respectively.
