OMG, it's so crazy that you mention this. My friend keeps telling me that I HAVE to try it...he says it's like a "Slim Jim" (not sure if you have those over in the U.K) only chewier ;):p

I duno what brand the Jerky is, down my local shop...red and blue pack lol
I've seen an online Uk shop that has Jack Link's Jerky, and it's in different flavours: teriyaki, original, peppered, sweet & hot, hickory... If I like the stuff from the shop, I might order one of the 6pack selection packs to try out the flavours.

Well slim jim's are like...spicy meat things...(best I could do) ;) So if you like...pepperoni...you'll probably like the beef jerky. I've yet to try it myself.

yeah, I like pepperoni so spicy meat or jerky sounds more of an interesting snack, than just eating boring old crisps.

Beef, or for that matter ANY jerky is dehumidified and dried meat.
I've had lamb, and chicken also.
Goes well with beer, if done properly it's actually very good, and ultra chewy, keeps you going for some time.
I myself recently had some REAL, freshly made jerky from one of the farmers out by my dads place...sadly though, the store bought pre packaged stuff doesn't come close, however, either is quite good for a beer snack, road trips...etc.
If you're going brand name, all I can suggest is "Nobbys", from the same company that does nuts and things...assuming of course, that's available to you.
If not, well, have fun trying many a package of overpriced, substandard crap...you'll eventually find a good one.
OR
You can buy a unit that prepares jerky at home quite cheaply, some of which are also excellent for preparing tomatoes and fruit.

Was reading up on Jerky a little while ago, I'm gona have a go at making some sometime. I don't think I'll go the whole hog, and buy a unit though....cheers for the links. I'll buy a smallish beef joint, cut it into strips, season, then lay on a tray and do it in the oven for a while, and see how it goes.
btw, I've seen Nobbys Nuts down the shops, so I'll have a look out for their jerky.

SHanks,
Jack Links is IMO one of the better jerkies available.
It is not as dried out as most jerky, so IMO of course, it tastes better.

You don't know the half of it.
Their slogan over here, no shit, is "nibble nobbys nuts", used to this day, and as long as I've ever known. The jerky has only been released maybe over the past 6 months?
Just when you think it couldn't get worse, you realise you're now supposed to "nibble nobbys jerky" I mean...that's just not right...huh? although, they haven't used THAT one for advertising yet.

They should! They'd have massive success in the homosexual community.

There's a couple flavors but it's basically tough, sweet meat.
My cousin hunts and makes his own jerky out of deer, and it is better than any jerky I've ever had from a store.

Jerky is good, but be careful. If you pick the wrong flavor, you will never like jerky again.
