I'm moving to a creepy town (Staunton, VA), complete with a grave of Vlad Tepes's descendant and two abandoned insane asylums. Lovin' it.

Just wondering if anyone here has something they find creepy in their hometowns.

Just a few short miles from where i sit and type this, lies the remains of none other than.....H.P. LOVECRAFT.He is buried in Swan Point Cemetery and they say that on the anniversary of his demise, if you wander past the graveyard, you can see smoke slowly rising from his grave, and hear the screams of the dead.

OK i made the last part up....but he is buried near my home.

We have the Haunted Bookstore, which closely resembles that old Chinese shop in "Gremlins".

We also this really long tunnel underneath a railway, right next to the river. Some girl got raped there about a year ago, and all the bike riders go blocks out of their way to avoid it now.

I wish I had a digital camera, so I could show my spooky hometown.
There are places like an eerie watertower, who havenīt been used in very long time, and for years ago were we having the ruins of an abadoned soccer club house, but it got teared down.
There is still a lot of ugly buildings left in downtown, like the smith and car factory houses.
We also had an abadoned Arla milk factory like the kids loved to explore, but it got teared down too lately, and replaced with a new house block.

We USED to live in a sub-division that was built on top of a sacred indian ritual place and people who move there-move out soon or get a run of bad luck.

Its Weird you ask that because i work at The Eutaw House Restraunt + Pub,and this place dates back to 1823, and its said that Edgar Allen Poe, stayed thier while back and we have a table in the upstairs dining room, that people can walk around and view, this table has the initials EAP scratched into it, its very fascinating to work thier and everyone that works thier can tell you different stories. Ive only been working thier for 3 months and the only thing thats happened to me was one night i was closing down andi was the last person thier and i heard stomping on the floor right above me. no one else was thier and i never believed in ghosts but after that i dontr know what the hell i should believe, one things for sure though im just as scared of the Eutaw House as everyone else that has had these epierences.

Well, we do have a 200+ year old mission about a block away from my place, and it has a 100 year old cemetery adjoining. This in itself is not necessarily creepy, but the area has sort of a ghoulish vibration, especially if you walk around at night. Most of the buildings are modern but since the city has been here for quite some time, there is a feeling of history, of antiquity.

They say we got ghosts here in this part of Los Angeles, but I ain't never seen one.

There is a series of books out called-Weird- insert your state here.

The books have all kinds of weird places in them.

I live on a farm with about 10 families in the area. So not much spooky around here. Of course I live 20 miles east of the Pontiac prison.

A guard I know that works there tells the inmates that if they try to escape they will get attacked and eaten by lions.

Seems that Chicago public schools are really doing well up north teaching inner city youths.

There is this bridge near my house that is called "Bunnyman Bridge". Some say it is where a escapee of a mental asylum dwelled under. He caught bunnies and hung their corpses on strings. A couple of people were found under the bridge hung just liek the rabbit.

Others say that a man in a Bunny suit hung around the bridge, and killed some chick on halloween.

I saw a special on that bridge one Halloween. Even if none of the afore mentioned events never took place (at any locale), the sheer public apprehension and the stories themselve give off their own creepy vibe.

I live about 2 blocks away from the one creepy place in my town. It's an old mansion with an attached cemetary. During the day its kind of a museum and whatnot, but at midnight a lot of times you can see stuff moving inside and hear a girl laughing.

It really is pretty creepy at night, but only if you believe that stuff. Which I do.

I don't know of anything in Delaware. I grew up in Philadelphia and there's LOTS there! Betsy Ross' house is haunted, Independence Hall is haunted, there's a place that used to be a restaurant (General Wayne Inn) in the 'burbs that's extremely haunted, then you have Valley Forge (I've heard if you walk around there at night you can hear soldiers talking-I'm too chicken to check it out for myself) and Gettysburg. I went to Gettysburg one time to see if I could get anything on my pictures - when I got my photos back, they were all messed up.

Okay I looked this up in reno

Reno - Park Lane Mall - In 1976 a woman was found dead in the old bathroom down stairs. Her murder was never solved and she haunts the bottom floor of Park Lane Mall and is said appear around 9:00pm on the 3RD Sat. of every month.

Reno - The Mapes hotel - haunted by an unknown spirit. Now torn down and is now an ice rink in the winter months.

Reno - it used to be the riverboat casino now is an antique store - In the basement you can hear foot steps at various times and no one will be there. guards report they have heard the foot steps.

Reno - Robb Canyon - Years after 4 bodies of transients were unearthed in this canyon, just north of I80, ghost hunters from Oregon, Nevada and California have sought out this spot on fall moonless nights to see unexplained lights and occasional sounds of a murder. Since the murders were never solved, some people feel these ghosts are attempting to provide clues to the guilty.

Reno - Wooster High School - Earlier the Wooster colts lost the zone final to the McQueen lancers. One guy went out to the football field later that night and shot himself. Now whenever the lancers play on the Wooster field they have said they trip over nothing at all. They say that something or someone tripped them.

Man I go to that mall all the time, and I know were wooster is:)

Now I found this,my hometown in cali ANTIOCH!!!!!!!!

Antioch - Black Diamond Mines - These mines are haunted by the White Witch. In life, her name was Mary. She was a nanny in the 1800's when there was still coal mining in the mines. All of the children died of illnesses and she was accused of Witchcraft, then executed. She guards the mines and when people see her, she is all white.

Antioch - Black Diamond Mines - The Rosehill Cemetery - haunted by Sarah Norton, also known as the "White Witch". She was a midwife and on her way to deliver a baby her carriage fell over and she was crushed. She is seen in the graveyard floating around the tombstones.

Antioch - Black Diamond Mines - Somersville - Sarah Norton - Sarah Norton was a midwife who died on the way to deliver a baby when her carriage over turned and killed her. Sarah was not a religious woman and told her kids that she did not want a funeral. So when she died the town s people of Somersville wanted to give her a funeral. The first time they went to give her a funeral a fierce storm struck up and cause the towns people to delay the funeral till the next day, the next time they tried to give her a funeral another storm came out of no where and the live stock started charging thru town, at that point the towns people stopped trying to give her a funeral and just brought her to Rosehill Cemetery, From that day her sprit has been seen around Somersville and the other locations where the mining towns use to be know as The Black Diamond Mines in eastern Contra Costa County and other locations off of marsh creek rd. Her ghost has been known to be called the White Witch.

Antioch - Brentwood - Gravity Hill - In the 1950's a school bus was driving kids home from a field trip. It skidded into a wash and all the kids drowned. If you go there, put your car in neutral around the turn, you get pushed up the hill. It's supposedly by the kids who died in the bus crash and they want to keep you from the same fate.

Antioch - Empire Mine Road - Gates of Hell - Fair warning - no trespassing you will get fined or arrested. Possibly torn down - In the middle of Empire Mine road, there is a Stuckko wall with a bunch of spray paint on it. If you like to take hikes, this is the place to go. There is a rumor of an old Insane Asylum at the very end of this road. You will come to another gate then behind their lies this old decrepit Structure of a hospital. Many people were killed brutally in this place, and it is VERY haunted by not so nice spirits. Things have been thrown at people, they have been pushed and screams have been heard from the people being tortured by themselves or another. - October 2003 update: Reports of it being a golf course now.

Antioch - Empire Mine Road - Rail Road Mine - Fair warning - no trespassing you will get fined or arrested. Possibly torn down - At the end of Empire mine road, there is an old railroad track tunnel that is pretty spooky inside. There are bats inside it and you can hear voices at the end of the tunnel.

Antioch - Empire Mine Road - Slaughterhouse -Fair warning - no trespassing you will get fined or arrested. - An old slaughterhouse stands in the corner of the road after the first bend. It is haunted by an old man who walks the grounds and makes sure that everything is ok, and that no one gets hurt while there. Strange noises are heard inside the first building where they chopped up the meat. Clanking inside of the circle figured tubes towards the back of the property. Chains clank all around and you can hear footsteps behind you like someone is watching over you. Just remember to watch your step!

Antioch - St. James Presbyterian Church - This old church, located on Leland Avenue in San Francisco has a history of hauntings. Late at night, footsteps can be heard walking up the stairs, doors shut, etc. Also, on more than one occasion, late at night, doors that normally open easily will be impossible to open, as if a ton of bricks is on the other side of the door. Later, the doors will be found wide open.

Antioch - Vasco road - you can hear people if you get out of your car running around. breathing and invisible people is also reported. if you don?t feel like getting out of your car, it is scary just to drive through in the dark.

I dont know why the White Witch has two diff names BUT my dad has really seen her in the Cemetery when he was like my age with some friends!! we keep on asking if he lies but no,Man I new she was on the net on a antioch ghost site but I did not know it was well well known
:D

I'm from Providence and as newb has already mentioned it is where H.P Lovecraft is buried. Less well known is that Edgar Allen Poe lived in Providence for a while while he was courting a women named Sarah Helen Whitman. I remember going on a field trip to his house in grade school.

Also, we have an abandoned insane asylum. Not in Prov though, a bit south.

I never knew this until yesterday, but Iowa City has this thing in a graveyard called the Black Angel. Apparently it was an ivory colored angel that was the gravemarker of this dude, but his wife committed suicide after he died and then the angel turned black.

Smells like bullshit to me but its an interesting story.
