I've been on the upcoming movies board lately and with all the talk about remakes, I thought that I'd just make a discussion topic on it.
Any opinions on remakes? Good or Bad
Movies that shouldn't of been remade?
Movies that were known because of their remake?
Movies being remade into something completly different?
Movies getting remade now.
Does anyone know what the shortest gap between an original and a remake is?

search for remake threads here, so many remake threads get remade here it's remake madness.....
btw I reckon some of the more recent asian titles have the shortest gap.... yank directors can't get enough of them.

I think it would be better if the only remakes were remade by the original directors. Like they felt as though they could do better, so they add some extra scenes. Then again I guess you could just call that the directors cut of a film.

could you though? I always thought of the 'directors cut' as being an alternate version made up of material from the original production of the film..
but then again, if its the directors work, its really up to him what goes in or doesn't, so if he wants to use some stock footage and throw it in 10 years later or reshoot stuff and cut it up after the fact, I guess he has the power to call it the directors cut, being that he is the director..
I think that there is a line to be drawn there. A lot of people were pissed when they saw that anniversarry edition of NOTLD that had new scenes and edits.
Anyone hear about the Evil Dead remake? Supposedly Raimi and Campbell are committed to remaking Evil Dead on a bigger budget.
WASN'T THAT EVIL DEAD 2?
I like the series as much as if not more than the next asshole, but come on.. three versions of one movie?
That does seem like them though, in a comedic sense.

It seems like every movie now comes out with an "UNRATED DIRECTORS CUT!!!" It's ridiculous at this point. If you make a movie keep it the way it was shown in theaters. Unless u were shooting for a specific rating.
