Hey guys, I know I'm still new here, and hate to ask for a favor so soon, but I must. Has anyone ever read an article that ties the film Alien to the AIDS virus? I'm writing my thesis on the Art and History of Horror, and this article was suggested.

I have been searching the web like mad, and all I find is morons who mention it briefly in a sea of crap.

If you happen to know the article and could point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it.

heres a little something:

http://www.theorderoftime.com/science/sciences/articles/alienfrequencies.html

heres a 37 pg pdf relating the human body to the movies:

http://www.greatsociety.org/index2.php?option=com_content&do_pdf=1&id=39

and theres an essay relating probably the closest to what you're looking for, written by Amy Taubin, called ‘The Alien Trilogy: From Feminism to Aids’

you can purchase it as part of a paperback called "Women and Film"

couldn't find a transcription of that essay online, you might be able to snag one though.

Umm.. Alien came out Years before the world was even aware of AIDS. Sounds like someone is stretching....

PLus, Dan O'Bannon, who wrote Alien, and Ridley Scott both said they were trying to scare people, that's it.

The simplest explanation is usually the correct one.

It actually pertains mostly to Alien 3. Someone pointed that out to me on another board.

O yeah, I can see it. AIDS pertains to ALIEN 3 while being brought back to life pertains to part 4, we just havent reached that stage just yet, right?

Perhaps. It seems quite concievable that they were trying to offer some hope in the third one. Or maybe they were just trying to make an assload of cash. Who knows? Could be both.
