Child Pornography Charges Laid Against Teen

Canada - A disturbing eye opener for parents today it was announced Thunder Bay Police had laid child pornography charges against a 15-year-old boy.

Police held a news conference Monday afternoon where they announced the youth is facing 30 charges stemming from a two-month investigation.

The investigation began in April after Thunder Bay Police were contacted by a concerned parent.

Ten other victims have been identified so far and all have told consistent stories, that the accused began chatting with them on MSN messenger and allegedly convinced them to expose themselves to web cameras, then captured and posted those photos to a web site.

The 15-year-old, who cannot be named under Canada's Youth Justice Act, now faces 30 criminal code charges including possession, distribution and making of child porn. J.P Levesque says this is the first case to his knowledge of the accused being so young. But he says no matter what age, child pornography charges remain the same

Levesque says the web site providers, located in California, had no knowledge of what was on the site, and quickly shut it down. As for the boy's parents, they don't face criminal charges, but could still see civil litigation. Levesque says this is a warning to all parents that kids need to be supervised.

As the investigation continues, police are also looking into providing workshops for parents and increasing student education.
