Tom Waits is just great. He combines extremely wierd lyrics with jazz music and makes pleasing sounds which i like. That was somewhat redundant.

He also has more serious music, like the album "The Heart of Saturday Night" which i reccomend listening to while drinking, or if you plan on drinking that day.

This was a terrible review. Pretty much I just wanted to let everyone who doesn't already know, know that Tom Waits is good and they should give him a listen.

Tom Waits is awesome! It was all I'd listen to a few years ago. I really enjoy his albums Closing Time, Rain Dogs, and Bone Machine. "I Don't Wanna Grow Up" and "Dirt In The Ground" (from Bone Machine) are a couple of my favorites.

Good songs on those albums especially: Jersey Girl, Hold On and Romeo Is Bleeding.

You can't beat Step Right Up off Small Change either.

I didn't know that he was in Coffee and Cigarettes (film) till i saw it about six months ago. He and Iggy Pop do a scene together. It's good because they're in it.

Tom Waits was in Down By Law too (by the same director). He seem to pop up in a few films. He was really cool in Bram Stocker's Dracula.

Kentucky Avenue...from Blue Valentine....the song gets me everytime i hear it.

Take the spokes from your wheelchair
And a magpies wings
And tie em to your shoulders and your feet
I'll steal a hacksaw from my dad
And cut the braces off your legs
And we'll bury them tonight in the cornfield

Put a church keey in your pocket
We'll hop that freight train in the hall
And we'll slide down the drain all the way
To new orleans in the fall

Tom Waits is brilliant. I think Closing Time is his best (and one of the best albums ever), but Swordfishtrombones and Rain Dogs are great stuff, too (Soldier's Things and Time, respectively, are his two best songs, IMO)

It was origanally a hort film with just tom and iggy made in the late 80's but recently jim jarmusch shot the other scences and turned it into a feature.

Franks wild Years and Heart of Saturday night are my faveorite Tom Waits albums, One from each of his era's.

I listen to Frank's Wild Years or Rain Dog son a (nearly) daily basis.

He is my favorite singer/songwriter next to Johnny Cash - and I've got my 9 year-old hooked on him too:D
