Post your 3 likes and 3 dislikes.

Liked (Hope I don't sound too stupid!):
(1) The Village - A really fine film. I can only think the reason so many disliked this film is it's not quite what you expect, not really horror. The love story was quite touching and the acting was great.
(2) Children of the Corn - The first one was original and kinda creepy when I was a kid. The sequels are complete garbage though.
(3) Boggeyman - Not a bad film. Again, the problem with most of you was having high expectations this would be an AMAZING horror film. Not amazing, but enjoyed sitting through it
Disliked: (Oh gosh, please don't hurt me!)
(1) Frailty (uh oh, I'm in trouble) - A film that I didn't mind sitting through once, but definitely not something I'd revisit. Surprising to hear so many talk it up.
(2) Land of the Dead (digging my self a deeper grave) - This is one of those films EVERYONE wanted to be awesome, but I can come to grips with reality. Not very good at all. The Dawn remake blew this away.
(3) Dog Soldiers (I'm dead, I know it) - LOL. Slightly better than other werewolf crap like Howling and Silver Bullet, but definitely not the Oscar-quality film almost everyone here seems to think.
and one more just for kicks:
(4) Halloween - Alot of people just love the original. Again, I think it has to do with love of a director. But this movie never really impressed me, or scared me. The original Nigthmare on Elm Street was far better. (Going to buy a cemetery plot right now!)

House of 1000 Corpses- I didn't think it was great but it wasn't bad either, I did feel like it was ripping off TCM a bit but after they got into the house I let that go. I think Rob Zombie made everything his own way.
Lost in Translation- It seems to run to slow for everybody, I admit it does move slow but I don't have a problem with it at all, I think it's a great film.

The first time I saw Halloween I didn't have the slightest idea who John Carpenter was, you could be right about other people but I highly doubt it. Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean that everybody that does like it only does because it was directed by Carpenter but hey ''To each his own''
I'm not sure why there's mentions of Land of the Dead, seems that the majority here doesn't like it.

Understandable. But how does that movie seem to you now? The original Alien movie is much the same. Nothing like it before which made it scary as hell. But when I watch Alien today I still find it a great movie, even though it is quite old now. The Terminator is another old film that despite the (now) cheesy special effects I find still an amazing film. Halloween , for me, gets more retarded to me with age.
As far as my John Carpenter comment, if it doesn't fit you, so be it. But there are more than a few people out there go see, rent, buy whatever films he's involded with. I mean, there are people that seriously think films like Vampires, Prince of Darkness, and Ghosts of Mars are good films. Are you kidding me?

True the films you mentioned suck but Halloween doesn't and regardless of how effective it is today it's still a good movie. Everybody is desensitised these days that's why some of the older films that scared the hell out of people back then don't today.
Psycho for example was the first of its kind and back then people had never seen anything like it and it scared the hell out of 'em but if you show it to someone today there's a 98 percent chance it wont do a thing for 'em.

Here's another way to look at it......
you mentioned Alien and Terminator, those films were made to look and feel futuristic as if it were happening today. Halloween on the other hand was made to take place in '78 so that maybe one reason why the futuristic films you mentioned are still effective today and the films made for their own time period aren't.

Halloween seems like a great movie to me now. I appreciate the atmosphere which age does not take away. The score still kicks ass. Donald Pleasance kicks ass. I enjoy watching it, because it's masterful filmmaking on a small budget. Same reason I still watch Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Shining. I've been watching each of these for over 20 years, and they're all among my favorite movies. There's a reason these are deemed classics-because they remain effective decades after they were made.
By the way, Prince Of Darkness is a good movie. Not great, but good.

We watched Psycho in my Film Studies class once, there were about 15 of us, a few, including myself had already seen it, but it did manage to scare/creep out at least three people. And that was in a brightly lit classroom with traffic noises outside, not bad eh?
Films I liked:
1. Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 - It was funny
2. Alien Vs Predator - I'm not sure if many people on this forum liked it or not? But I know a few people who don't.
3. Urban Legend - It was just an okay slasher...
Films I didn't like:
1. A Clockwork Orange - I know this isn't horror, but I really didn't like this film, I did turn it off half-way through. May give it another go thou.

Ben Stiller's a caveman with no sense of humor. He can only play 2 characters; the angry crazy guy or the bumbling idiot with terrible luck.
And he plays that bumbling idiot with no luck great... So you hated "Meet the Parents" and didnt find it funny? I really dont expect to see him playing in drama roles or getting oscars but is that a bad thing? I dont think so.. He does what he is good at. Chappelle and Will Ferrell are right up there with him... What comedy actor do you like? Jack Black, Carrot Top, Pauly Shore, etc.
