Wow...what a night...

So I went over to a friends placde tonight...well, last night...it's 12:30am now...went to help move things, he just moved in.
I'm pretty drunk just now but I wanna tell you all about something.
At night, late, m'self, James anf my girl Anna , we went for a beer walk. Came back, and there's this medium sized dog walkin' on the street...towards us. Soon enough, I understood it wasn't there for a fight.
The dog is WAY underweight, like, all ribs and spine, and very young, I'd say under 2 years...very friendly, but scared all the same, VERY apprehensive, cowering at our feet every time it approached, very jumpy with sudden movement of sound.
Now, this dog is beautiful, absolutely human friendly demeanor, and very quiet...such expressive eyes, tan coat with black about the eyes and muzzle.
At a glance, I'd say she was a mastiff crossbreed of some kind, and for a dog built like that to be underweight is simply unnacceptable. We took er back to my friends place, and almost immediately she appeared to be way less stressed, and happy, not to mention, she likes me, and LOVES my gf...we're both rather fond of her.
I'm in somewhat of a dilemma...see, due to someone being attacked (probably a bad owner), by a terrier dog of some kind a couple months ago, my govt has passed an absolutely ridiculous law whereby certain breeds of dog that are able to lock their jaws, are to be terminated by law...it has affected more than one species. I won't even comment on how stupid I think this is, but it IS wrong.
Problem - this dog happens to be one of them.
So, I can't look for it's owner, I can't report it to the police or our version of the humane society either, for risk of it beging repoted, and killed. I can not stand for that possibility, nor will I - AND in addition, I woul NEVER hand this beautiful dog back to it's former irresponsible family, no way in HELL.
So folks, looks like I have a new dog.

Bree had a pitbull when she was little, and when her family moved ot new york, she had to put it down because one fucking woman in her neighborhood had a shit fit. Needless to say, she is pretty rabid about how much bullshit it is to not be able to have a dog simply because it's breed may or may not be "dangerous".

Plus, I have a bit of a soft spot for rescued dogs. our little beagle was used for breeding and never got any love. She doesnt even know how to give kisses (but she has found ways to show affection. it's really cute)

If you can't be arrested for it then I think it's great that you've got a new dog that likes you and your girlfriend but on the other hand if you can be arrested don't you think it's to big a risk to get jail time for a dog. I'm not saying it doesn't deserve to live and that that law is one of the stupidest fucking things I've heard in awhile but still do you really want to go to jail for a dog?

Of course, I'll plead ignorance if need be...You're right it is a STUPID pathetic law...EVERYONE has the ability to kill...
I don't want to think about the possible complications, but I intend to see this through, regardless of consequence.

Aw man, you should see this dog, she's so beautiful and placid, I cannot understand how ANYONE could let her get in such a state...Fucking assholes. They'd better hope they don't try to track it down.

Hmmm, a name...

I have no idea! I mean, I like to wait a lil' while and see what seems to "suit" them as I get to know them. Didn't had a leash so I didn't bring her back from my friends place yet, so I've not had a chance to hang out with her at length thus far.
I'll keep you posted.
Y'know a fucked up thing though? I think the dog might've had the shit beat outta it, like, by a guy...'cos she's extremely extra skittish around males...she's all good with ME now, but yeah, looks like it's gonna take some time...

That's a really good idea...I'll just take pics of her face, 'cos seriously, if you saw how skinny she was, you'd be pissed too.
We're meant to be having a bbq over the same friends place this afternoon/evening, last night, my friend fed the dog a whole pack of sausages, and the 3 steaks...essentially, he gave the entire bbq (good thing I'm bringing some GEWWWD stuff m'self) to the dog, which ate it within five minutes, still hungry...so hungry.

So, I rocked over to my friends place today - he and an "associate" met us half way.
Bought a leash and collar, some food, and flea treatments for the dog...'cept when we got there, we saw that the back door (leading to outside) had been left open.
My friend CLAIMS he had it locked, and there WERE claw marks on the glass of the door...I guess I jus thought it was improbable that toe dog woul've been able to do so...I still suspect it's their fault in some way...but what can you do.
We went looking for the dog, all around my friends apartment complex...no dog. So we went around the front...where we found her, 'cept, she wasn't alone, she was with her "owner" in his front yard. She didn't look happy...He was some 40-something all day beer drinkin' redneck fucker.
It was a kinda funny scene, between the three GUYS, we didn't say anything, but my gf blasted the guy...asking him why he'd rather feed his habit than his dog...a few choice swearwords too.
He said "I DO feed it."
IT.
So unfortunately, all I can do at this point is to either
A: Kidnap the dog, in superior numbers.
B: Contact the rspca (our equivalent to the humane society), and have them go out and see the state of the animal - it will most likely get taken from him right away. I can leave my number with them so they can call me when she's been processed through their system, to home it with us.

I just can't like...NOT get this dog outta there.
