"Atari, oddly enough, is planning to deliver its next classic collection in the form of new hardware. Atari Flashback 2.0 is a miniature recreation of the Atari 2600, and will feature 40 games and two joysticks. Games include Pit Fall, Asteroids, Millipede, Adventure, Pong, River Raid, Yar's Revenge, Lunar Landing, and many more, including seven that were apparently not released. (Atari fans: Clue me in on these!) From what I understand the system will support classic 2600 peripherals such as the paddle controllers, and will actually feature true 2600 hardware this time"
I am SO there!
This one will prove that graphics aint all that...man, 2-player atari again, that there is gonna be SOME fun...

OMG! That's so cool. Do you know when it's being released? :)
I was just thinking of picking up an old NINTENDO system the other day off of Ebay. I guess I'll have to add this new Atari to my wishlist as well ;)
I love the old games. So classic.
:D

I'll do some research and find out for you...I think bringing back retro gaming is a great idea...I only hope somebody brings out a sega console similar to this.
As for the old nintendo, don't worry about ebaying it,just pick up nintendos NEXT console to come out, apparenty, it will be able to connect to a server, from which you will be able to legally download...wait for it...every old nintendo game, ever.
I'd go with that option m'self.
But yeah, this atari thing is defniately on MY list too.

Thanks for looking into it for me. I appreciate it :)
I can't believe they're going to release a nintento console that allows you to download all the old games :) I can't WAIT. I miss so many of them...Merlin's Castle...PaperBoy...Super Contra...PitFall...and obviously all of the Super Mario Bros. This is great news! ;)

I know! oldskool nintendo was the shit, I always loved it...although SEGA took my favour during the 16-bit wars, nintendo ALWAYS had great quality titles in the 8-bit era...as did sega, but nintendo had a much greater range.
I liked: cobra triangle, the original zelda, p.o.w, final fantasy and any of the other top-down rpgs, mario 2, pang...wow...so many...I gotta bust out my emulator again!
I'll be sure to keep you informed about both systems.
Yeah, I think there's been this retro kinda surge, because the companies have seen the HUGE amounts of piracy happening through emulation, simply because that is the only way to actually PLAY these old games at the present time.
I KNOW there's still a demand for the oldskool...always happy to meet another fan.

Yeah definately keep me informed about anything you hear! I'm so excited!! LOL. ALTHOUGH...I must admit...I NEVER played SEGA!;) Don't hate me. Oh wait a minute....does SEGA Game Gear count? Cause I had that ;) But I never played on an actual console.
What they NEED to do is when they release Nintendo have it go "live" like they did with XBOX! Then we can play Super Mario etc. together! ;)

I think it's a badass idea...I'm gonna get one...I say every company should do a system-wide relaunch just to see what there's still a demand for...not that it'd ever happen...but, just imagine hitting EB to find ll your favourite oldskool consoles out again. This is why that next nintendo system is gonna be badass...that's a MAJOR selling point for me...in fact, it'll be the first nintendo system I actually intend to OWN since the snes.
But yeah, as a rule, ANYTHING oldskool, I'm there.

Its great that you still have your old consoles, however, I have to say tht for the atari at least, I would choose the "new model" option. No cartridges to worry about, and you get a new peice of hardware garaunteed to last longer.
I think it's a great idea, and other companies should consider following along the same lines...I'd love to be able to play 16-bit sega and nintendo games on a new console again...

why don't they just re-release the 2600? That way I can use all these Atari cartridges I found in my grandma's basement. I want Big Bird to teach me math, damnit!
This is great! I have my original Atari in storage at my grandmother's house, but now that the games are already preloaded, I can actually find some space for it in my apartment.
Awesome. Just awesome.
