Man's Remains Put Through Mincer
England - A 22-year-old man survived being shot at with a crossbow only to be bludgeoned on the head with an axe and stabbed to death, a jury has heard.
The court heard Nelvaughn Brade's body was chopped up, put through a mincer and dumped on a Norfolk landfill site.
The stabbing happened at a house in Perry Barr, Birmingham, which Mr Brade shared with housemate Steven Parton.
Parton has already pleaded guilty to murder. His girlfriend Karen Morris, of Selly Park, Birmingham, denies murder.
Prosecutor Julia Macur QC told the jury at Birmingham Crown Court that Miss Morris said she should not be convicted of murder, but instead found guilty of manslaughter due to diminished responsibility.
The court had heard that Mr Brade had first been shot at with the crossbow as he took a shower in the bungalow he shared with male stripper Parton, 39, in the early hours of 5 November 2004.
The crossbow missed his neck and as he tried to escape, the jury heard, he was knocked down by his housemate who rained blows on his head with an axe.
Miss Macur told the court that Ms Morris and Parton turned up at a police station at Hunstanton police station in Norfolk on 11 November 2004 appearing anxious and distressed.
Parton told a police officer they had "done something very, very bad".
Police inquiries later established Mr Brade was dead and Parton told police they could find his body on a landfill site in nearby Kings Lynn.
The court heard Parton accompanied detectives to the landfill site and several black bin liners and oil drums were found containing his remains.
Miss Macur said Mr Brade's presence in the house had been the main source of tension between Miss Morris and Parton and had led to Miss Morris moving out.
The trial continues.
