A female friend of mine is spending the night at my house tomorrow because I'm going to have the house to myself. I plan on renting some movies for us to watch. I've been meaning to watch Hellraiser with her and I also plan on getting Jacob's Ladder. Are there better choices for this kind of occasion? I'd prefer horror if anyone can think of any that would be good to watch with a girl. Something sad maybe...

But if you can't find it I'd always go for a classic like maybe Psycho, House on Haunted Hill, Horror Hotel ect ect, then a comedy horror like Bubba Hotep, or Shaun of the Dead to lighten the mood a lil...Most girls like to get scared and laugh, I know I do.

Alright, thanks for your help. :D Anytime, anytime.....but yeah, if she isn't really into horror like some of here are, this is what I would do and what I would wanna see in her position. If she isn't into horror I really wouldn't show her Hellraiser, haha....you gotta work up to gore like that:p but hey, have fun either way

Oh...And I'd recommend The Ring or 13 Ghosts, cuz Seri's a girl and she loves those......I love just about ALL horror movies...JUST ABOUT...Stay away from the Leprechaun movies...Blecch!

But yeah...Have fun...

Question: Is this a "meow meow" kind of female friend? Yeah, I guess it must be, because you're worried about watching the right material, huh. Fear not...the horror.com fans are here to help you out.

How about some "light" horror? Like, "The Frighteners" is horror but with a lot of humor--although maybe it's way too weird. No, scratch that one.

Oooo, how about "Dark City"? Kind of on the intellectual side, not too gory, but....no, it's too overwhelming. Hmmm

Okay. Rent "The Blob" (the original "The Blob"). Great movie, it is horror, but with a moral and social backbone to it, very sweet at points. Nice script. If she likes old-timey movies, she'll like this one.

If she likes REALLY old films and can groove with that, Nosferatu would be nice too.

Get a bad 80's teen slasher, Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm St.

Gals love that teen cut-em-up stuff.

I agree w/ Marroe on Bubba Ho-Tep.

Ill also sggest the remake of House on Haunted Hill. Awesome, mindless horror movie filled with decent kills, creepy atmosphere, and action aplenty. Definatly the best remake in a long time, IMO.

I ended up renting Jacob's Ladder and Psycho (the original). I couldn't find Bubba Hotep. I went to Wal Mart to find Nosferatu but to no avail... and it didn't help that nobody in the dvd department spoke english... I do believe I have Dark City in my house somewhere... She has good taste in movies, not just horror, so I think Dark City would be great. The only really good horror comedy I have is Fearless Vampire Killers but I've already watched that with her... In any case, I appreciate all the help folks.

For an oppressive surreal nightmare fantasy, Dark City has a hot 'n' steamy quality at times.
